Gamer Nexus: COLLAPSE of Personal Computing

Consoles are subsidized and run off old tech insufficient for ai use.
Subsidizing can only go so far. At most Sony can afford ~$100-$200 per console with the higher you go the unfeasible it is. Subsidizing $200 can mean a four billion dollar annual loss. That is not sustainable. If RAM prices get to the level where PC gaming is in danger, consoles would be well over $1000, even with a massive, company destroying subsidy of $200.

Consoles will also be using GDDR7 soon enough, exactly the same as what Nvidia GPUs use. AMD is still on GDDR6, same as the consoles.

Imagine not being to do your damn homework because the cloud computer were having issues.

This rent a cloud computer thing isn't something new but it isn't forced. Shadow PC is literally a cloud PC you can rent. And with everything that uses a mouse with added latency, it feels like ass.
I don't have to image about the homework. Kids all over US use stupid online learning platform that was just down for days after they got hacked.

There is 0 chance of modern Sony subsidizing $200/console. That would be insane. I could see $50-100 at most if any.

They increased PS5 DE to $600 and disk version to $650, and are seemingly ok with hardware sales numbers dropping.

I would also love to see PS5 Pro numbers post increase.

The future is that gaming GPUs exist only in consoles, where Sony and Nintendo have customized the GPU for gaming.

Or do you think Sony co-develops RDNA5 just for show? It's to reduce dependence on AMD.
If AMD decides to make GPUs solely for AI, Sony already has experience in taking those GPUs and customizing them for gaming.
Where is Sony getting their wafer setup at?

As much as I always found tech jesus good to meh from time to time he does have amazing idiotic takes. And this is one of them.

It literally makes no sense what he says:

1. For Nvidia/AMD and others directly selling to consumers their hardware is ESSENTIAL part of business. Those are THEIR customers. (AIB debate is something else, they are pretty much just distributors+ and no one cares if they use msi, asus or whatever.)
2. The same goes for chip fabs. They want more customers not less. IF your customer has at your fab say 90% of use then he dictates price not you.
3. The whole cloud era operates on assumption it is cheaper to run in cloud services like games and others than on private computer. As proven by every service that went cloud this is not the case. IT is cheaper to buy 1TB of hard disc drive than 1TB of google cloud. It was cheaper to rent movies in physical form than in digital form. The cloud advantage isn't in cost but in immidiate access and supposed "safety" to service without any additional stuff. But that advantage only makes sense when service is cheap because once you establish service at home then that advantage goes away. No one who has good gaming pc thinks about getting cloud gaming service.
4. Another factor is that it assumes that people use services equally. Which is not the case. Most of people use services like netflix when they come to home after work at the same time. So cloud service of shuffling movies loses a lot of money in off hours.
5. Cloud providers themselves also are a service. They are interested in making money. So if everything will move to cloud the prices will soar. This is why Netflix and others started to increase prices into stratosphere. Because no one goes to theaters or buys physical movies. So netflix will rise prices but cloud like AWS will be the ones who will sip all that profit not Netflix. Netflix will want to make their own cloud hosting but that means competition with AWS and voila you end up in the same place you started with.
6. If cost of movies on netflix or games on whatever will go balistic movie companies themselves will start to think that maybe making physical movies is again profitabe. After all, you can have good mobie for 20$ on physical or rent it for 90$ for one day on netflix.

AI right now scews that math but new fabs are growing like mushrooms after rainy day. Soon they will double, triple or quadrupple production as long as there will be more production than demand. Secondly already chinese are trying to capitalize and enter market. their ram modules already are being sold and they go hard on GPU market. Soon there will be 4 or maybe even 5 gpu producers.

If nvidia wants to leave gaming then they can. Others will gladly take their share of customers.

The cope of console fanboys thinking this won't affect them (when it already is)... its sad if anything actually.
More like the cope of PC fanboys making this news about console once more. I remember in late 2025 saying PC sales are projected to decline in 2026 and people saying "no console is dying and PC is only going up".

Triggered bro? Look at the first page and you'll see its filled with console fanboys trying to make this about console replacing PC, OP itself being on it too.

Not really, just see who started talking about consoles in the first place in that first page. It's all there.

Triggered bro?

Well. Known. Fanboy. With very obvious intents.
So shooting the messenger based on nothing but feelings. Why not just say nothing about console and discuss the subject matter avoiding the possible trap you think he's laid? Fanboy defeated. Too difficult for the triggered so you get the cope replies of PC fanboys making this news about console once more like I said.

More like based on his first inflamatory comment but thats as much of internet dynamics as i'll explain to you. Keep coping thinking sony can magically produce DRAM straight from cerny's butthole.

Was that supposed to be a sick burn?
No just showing this isn't your first time where you throw that dumb defense around. you might have changed your name from "xbox 360" and your Link avatar from back then but it's you who's an exiled xbox fanboy throwing that stuff around when you don't have a clue.

So, because my name was my favorite console, I'm an Xbox fanboy? Sure, ok.

Nobody said Sony can magically produce DRAM though. Nice strawman setup when it's obvious you can't argue about who needlessly deflected the thread to consoles vs PC wars.

Intel just came out with new CPUs. The 270K Plus matches their fastest processor and is only $299. That's pretty insane.

Motherboards are also cheap. Not everything is expensive. It really just as is storage thanks to these data centers. If the AI bubble bursts, or if we get some competition, things will work out. It's still a sad video on how many companies are struggling because of this AI slop.

Where was console mentioned at all in OP though? Some people were just triggered by it and started mentioning console too.
Oh give it a rest, when the OP has "Could this be the end of the master race?" it's quite clear what the intention of the thread was.

Is it any different to "are consoles in trouble?" from this thread?
You can just say "no pc master race will be fine because...". Why get triggered and go straight for the platform wars angle?

Responding to a clear platforming wars OP with factual statements about how this impacts more than just PC is by no means a "platform wars angle".

But he merely said you were a fanboy 🤔, a simple statement. Couldn't engage him in an objective manner and politely clarify whether you are/aren't a fanboy 🤔🤔🤔?
I did that by showing a post where he does this song and dance continuously accusing me and others and saying I pretend to own a 5090 where I showed him proof. Me pointing out its himself projecting his own fanboy tendencies doesn't change that.

When somebody tries punching you in the face you can try just explaining yourself, I'd rather punch back.

But it's "only platform wars OP" because you don't like who posted it. It was about a new Gamer Nexus video explaining the state of the PC market right now.

WaIt, are you saying you aren't a PS fanboy 🤔?

Geez, you dont say.

I don't care who posted it. If it was posted with a comment that was actually useful and not console war nonsense I would have taken the discussion in a very different direction. It's obvious what the intention of the OP was and I'm not sure why you are taking umbrage at pushing back on it.

But are you a PS fanboy or not 🤔 ?
I like my PS5 but I'm not irrationally attached to it to deny reality, though I'm sure you're going to disagree. Are you a PC fanboy?

But there was no console war nonsense in the OP other than your view of the user.

Irrationally enough to frequently argue with strangers online though

Ye :messenger_sunglasses:
There's nothing irrational about spending time on GAF though 😎

Who was looking for an argument. The person getting triggered to bring up needless console vs PC debates or somebody just replying to a troll calling him fanboy for seeing that fact of who was actually triggered?

If the only option in the future is to rent a cloud PC, you can bet your ass that the only option to play on a console will be to rent a cloud console as well. This will be the death of consoles because all the benefits of having a console VS PC goes away.
