Gamereactor: Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 may come this year (alongside PS5 and Xbox upgrades)

are in a big trouble
"Earlier this year, in the midst of a flurry of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks just before its official reveal video, publications such as Gamereactor heard the inevitable rumours about the first Nintendo and third-party games that would accompany the console. We heard of Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Final Fantasy VII, and Elden Ring, titles finally confirmed at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation in April. But there was one big rumoured game that we'd heard of and who yet missed the party: Red Dead Redemption 2.

And it's happened again. Gamereactor has heard from sources close to Rockstar that the acclaimed Wild West open-world opus, considered one of the best video games ever, is not only on its way to Nintendo Switch 2, but could be coming to the new console as soon as later this year. The very same has been heard and is corroborated over at Nintendúo, and from different sources."

"What's more, RDR2 for Switch 2 wouldn't be coming alone or as a one-off move, but it's possible that it could be coming at the same time, or somewhat later, as an update to the game for current-gen hardware - one of the so-called "next-gen upgrade patch" that brings the graphics and performance of Red Dead Redemption 2 up to date for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S."

So are we getting an RDR2 Enhanced like we got with GTA V?

Both titles make sense to come to the system. They teased folks with the remaster of OG RDR People loved it. I'm 100% convinced it's happening. GTA IV on the Switch 2 would print them an insane amount of cash.

They snuffed GTA Online on Steam Deck for a reason.

I think it's far from impossible to get 60fps on the Switch 2, but I think they will choose to lock it at 30 instead.

I'm not that bothered about these big third party ports, although a Witcher 3 complete edition at 1080p/60 would be very tempting in handheld.

No Game Key Card please? lol

As a physical collector, one of the things I loved is when I bought the first Red Dead on Switch...I could just put it in, and it didn't require a download. Not a damn thing. I dunno if it got a patch later, but the game was fully on the cart with no day one patch. I loved it.

I'm currently playing through the game for the first time on Series X. Maybe should pause and wait to see if there's an upgrade patch coming.

Love the game but unfortunately it looks and plays awful on the PS5 on a 4K screen, an update is seriously needed.

Depending on the level of visuals improvements (like ultra settings from the PC version) could see myself paying a pretty high price for a next gen version

Sound strategy, just to let you know I haven't played RDR1 for the last ten years as I'm waiting for the same.

As expected… RDR2 and GTA5 Switch 2 ports for this year, GTA6 Switch 2 port probably along side the PC port or early.

Has a GTA V port been rumored? I've only heard GTA IV, but, honestly, I will take either, since it has been like a decade since I last played V and even longer for IV.

Porting old shit that the Switch couldn't handle is the future of the Switch 2. All of this while charging MSRP or close to it on games that are 2-10 years old. RDR2 is great, but everyone who cared has already played it ages ago.

You know what? I'm down as RDR1 and 2 are some of my all timers. Just really curious about what it will look like and what else it will have.
