Gamereactor: Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 may come this year (alongside PS5 and Xbox upgrades)

One would think a PATCH to the PS5/XS would be enough for this
Yeah. I believe they have shown this can run at 60fps on a base PS5 with minimal effort but……

Next-gen RDR2 with the suite of RT effects recently deployed across GTA V would be glorious.

Fingers crossed for a PS5 Pro GTA V patch as well.

I guess for consoles.

The game looks stunning on PC at present, 60+fps etc, 4k etc.

How can they sell a remaster to PC players lol?!?!
They won't. It will come a few months later as a free "enhanced edition" like they did for GTAV. Probably marginally better in the raster/texture department with improved pipeline advancements to their engine with RT features. Better foliage/trees that was saw from the GTA6 trailer.

Obviously GTAV was a larger jump in improvement from a PS360 pipeline engine/game.

Damn, the remaster will bring our consoles/PCs on their knees. Rdr2 was still being used in benchmarks not too long ago

Because paying $70+ tip for a 60FPS patch sounds abhorrent. I wonder what they will actually do. PC version is already in the top 3 best looking games ever.
Ray tracing addition and texture/materials/lighting tweaks. Probably the improvements to the foliage/trees we've seen in the GTA6 trailer.

No Game Key Card please? lol

As a physical collector, one of the things I loved is when I bought the first Red Dead on Switch...I could just put it in, and it didn't require a download. Not a damn thing. I dunno if it got a patch later, but the game was fully on the cart with no day one patch. I loved it.

LA Noire and GTA Trilogy required a dowload though

It does not, unfortunately. RAM was only 8GB for both the PS4 and PS4Pro.

😂 It's coming.

There's way too much smoke for there to be no fire.

Most likely is a Switch 2 launch period game and a PS4 upgrade for $10+ and/or a PS5 purchase for $50.

I can't see them charging more than $50 for this (on PS5)

I don't know why people make such a big deal about 60 fps for these movie games. I have a 9950x3D and 5090 and I happily play this at 5k 30 fps. Rockstar games ALL start to have minor to major bugs the further from 30 fps you go. Besides, with the auto aim cover fighting system this game has it's not like control super fluidity is necessary to get through it enjoyably. 60 fps is a joke.

Probably will handle it the same way they did GTAV's enhanced edition.

Free upgrade window on the consoles for 3 months, free upgrade on PC. After the 3 months on console, $50.

throw RDR2 in the trash and gimme GTA4.

I hope the rumoured GTA4 remaster will have the full RT suite of GTA5 (at least on PC/Series X/PS5)

I just want 60 fps on console…. Please…..Papa Rockstar.

Maybe for Xbox, but PS5 really need a proper work.

Removing the shit CB, fix the HDR (if I remember right, DF said their HDR implementation would damage your TV. IDK if was fixed or not).

Tried rdr2 on 4 different PCs and configs and all fucking crashed on the snowy start area constantly. Gave up with it so a next gen patch would be great as only ever finished it once on ps4. Also the HDR was absolute shit so hopefully, if it's true, we get a proper implementation.

As I'm currently playing RDR2 at 120fps maxed out i don't know what bugs you are talking about. Flawless experience.

I'm a complete mark and would fold like a cheap suit to pay full price for 60fps and literally no other upgrades.
Same, this is one of those games that I'm quite happy to pay up for even though I know I'm being a pigeon. Another level in terms of world building, nothing comes close.

The game crashes on many different pc setups for me always in the snowy area at the start of the game. Tried with ryzen 1600 and 2070 ages ago then a 3060 with 12400f then a 3090 same cpu. Also a 13700kf and 4080 (sold not long ago) and trued it on a spare pc that's a 7600 and 7800xt.

Love to know why every fucking pc I try it on it crashes in the same snowy area. Did get past it after multiple tries on the 4080 but at that point I gave up as thought would just crash in another area. Trust this is not me exaggerating eiva. There's no need for that shit, it's a broken game and have no idea why it's fucked for some and not others especially with myself trying such a range of different setups and it always being fucked.

That's to bad and definitely sucks. I wouldn't know how to troubleshoot your problem.

Yea does suck and I've tried many things to sort it but no luck. I guess it's just one of them things that something very specific is wrong and I'd need to do alot of trial and error, but just don't have the patience to be doing that.
Played gta5 on PC and was flawless for me with 2 or 3 different setups and was actually the first platform I fully finished it on. Rdr2 would be great with higher res and 60fps as I only played it on the ps4 pro so happy if rumours are true can actually play it at higher fidelity.

I can tell you one thing that's objectively broken at greater than 30 fps: cloth physics. The farther from 30 you go the more violent and erratic they become. A light breeze will make clothes whip around crazily like you're in a hurricane.

Another thing that's broken is certain scripted particle effects. Here's a video I took to demonstrate this during a cutscene in a late game mission:

In that video, I have a 30 fps cap engaged and at first the smoke stack from the train looks perfect. The second I disengage the fps limiter, and framerate jumps to about 60, the smoke particles become completely bugged.

This is usually the part where people undermine the significance of these anomalies. I won't willingly accept bugs (and who knows the full extent of what else is breaking from going above 30, these are just 2 examples) in favor of a framerate increase that has no meaningful impact on this movie game that's best played with a controller anyway. Want to make a point to enjoy 120+ fps? Do it for a competitive shooter. That makes sense. Cinematic story game with generic slow paced gameplay anyway? Literally doesn't matter. I will take the intended 30 fps cap with 0 added bugs from framerate and my CPU and GPU sip power while delivering a 100% rock solid pacing of frames any day of the week.

How much smoke is there ? I thought this was from one random person ?
