Gamereactor: Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 may come this year (alongside PS5 and Xbox upgrades)

How much smoke is there ? I thought this was from one random person ?

There have been talks, leaks (Brazilian rating boards) and rumors of RDR2 coming to Switch 2 as far back as 2022. From multiple sources within the industry. The first rumors were (understandably) mistaken for it coming to Switch 1 as Switch 2 hadn't even been announced yet. Clearly Rockstar has been cooking on this port for at least 3 (maybe more) years now.

Also it makes sense, in that they are clearly trying to build/re-build an audience for this franchise with the recent re-release of RDR1 on Switch and current gen consoles.

Need an official announcement on this, this is torture.

There is already a 4k remaster. It's not 60 because the game breaks even on PC if you try to mod it. I really doubt they'll remaster the remaster just to fix that.
There's an instance where one suspects ends up running too fast and gets hit by a car and killed. I had to disable 60fps just for that.

😂 It's coming.

There's way too much smoke for there to be no fire.

Most likely is a Switch 2 launch period game and a PS4 upgrade for $10+ and/or a PS5 purchase for $50.

I can't see them charging more than $50 for this (on PS5)
Guessing $70 on Switch 2.

Too bad that took so fucking long. My wife is currently suffering through the game with memory leak crashes every 2-3 hours. Or rather, restarting every 2 hours to avoid that. Huge bug they apparently never bothered to fix. The "fix" is to switch to DX12 from Vulkan, but for some reason that option is not selectable on linux. (plenty of dx12 games play through proton/VKD3D)

There's no cross-saves, either. So she won't be able to switch to ps5 when this comes out. Really shitty!!!!

That's strange, buddy plays on Vulkan and it runs better for him and has not run into this. On Windows 10/11, not Linux, however.

He has thousands of hours into it on the PC.

Apparently happens on both linux and windows. That's IF this is the memory link issue. Another fix was supposedly to turn off rebar, which I did and had no effect.

I would REALLY love for someone to figure out how to get the game to switch to dx12. :/ You can change the setting, but the game won't start.

As I'm currently playing RDR2 at 120fps maxed out i don't know what bugs you are talking about. Flawless experience.
Got another actual gameplay and not just visual bug for you. I fired up RDR2 last night and was just messing around with my framerate uncapped. With my 9950x3D and RTX 5090 playing the game maxed out at 5k with DLSS Quality, I was getting 100-125 fps.

You ever try fishing at your 120 fps flawless experience? Must not because it's pretty freaking far from flawless. The controls are completely broken. When you're trying to bait fish by wiggling and pulling the rod, you can't pull the line left or right, only up and down. Then when you hook a fish and try reeling it in, it takes significantly longer and is downright impossible at even higher framerates.

We can pretend everything is fine but unless you're playing at the intended 30 fps, no it is not fine and you're not getting the true experience. And again, this isn't some exhaustive list of issues at higher fps. Who knows what else is broken that you'd find if you actually dig in and test.

Why are you complaining to me? Complain to Rockstar or slap your system.

Because I advocate for sticking to the intended experience, as bug free as possible, and I want to inform persons such as yourself who don't know you're causing bugs in your game by playing like that. Maybe you'll go to catch the legendary fish and go "why the heck is this so hard?" There you go.
