Games for the sick

So, guys, I recently went on recovery for a surgery and thought that I could play all day long, but no, I actually can't, because it's hard to stay awake sometimes or react quick, or even follow a storyline.

I'm better now, but I wonder, what games are entertaining enough, but let you take your time and don't demand your attention for long periods of time?
 
Mario Wonder comes out on the 20th. The vibrant colors and magical world might be right up your ally. Mario can turn into an elephant.

Maybe a Mario game for now? Depends on how long you'll be in recovery.

Starfield. You can fall asleep and it'll be fine. Nothing is actually dangerous. With the background music they have going I'm pretty sure they expect people to fall asleep. It also takes forever to do anything and yet no part of it ever seems important. No need to keep track of a story because no quest has any impact on other quests. You'll easily pass two weeks of recovery on it.

I just had a serious bout of Covid, never been so ill my entire life. First 2 days I was like you, couldnt face anything, but from day 3 to day 6, Baldurs Gate 3 and Forza Motorsport have really helped me relax and forget about how shit I feel.
 
This is where phone games shine.

Also, simple games where you don't think reactively. Maybe Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, Zuma and Cut the rope.

I remember playing a lot of Just Cause 2 one time when I got super sick. I didn't even do anything challenging because I didn't have the patience for it. But I sure had loads of fun just driving off mountains and doing sick stunts for hours. Since it's a sandbox game, you can just do whatever and don't feel pressured with a challenge and that's the beauty of it.

But otherwise I would recommend some stuff where you can just pause mid game and take your time, like a turn-based strategy or maybe a Harvest Moon type of game.

Different health issues. But I've been fighting a debilitating muscular disease (getting better now). Some days I couldn't move a limb or walk or use one of my hands etc. Pretty heavy. But one of the things that kept me going when I was enduring severe attacks was my love for gaming. And Vampire Survivors was great. It only requires one stick control from a physical perspective and is compelling yet very simple mentally. Excellent game.

I just got Borderlands 3 on Switch.

For me it's a no brainer, it actually takes no brain to play the game 😂

Fun plain and simple, poop humor, blood, guns, nice environment and online coop.
 
Classic WoW is great to play when your brain is AFK and just want to go numb and still progress.

Any other grindy game can do nicely, Diablo/PoE or some looter shooters like Destiny.

I could do another D2 run and not have a single thought in my brain while doing it.

As others have said, games like Abzu and Journey are great for this too.
 
When I am sick I like to play Worms against CPUs. My favorite is the original one on Saturn, but I think more recent entries should work to.
