Games where you've completely lost track of time.

This seems to be a rare occurrence for me but i love it when I look at the clock and realise 4+ hours have vanished.
Games to have done this in recent memory:
  • World of Warcraft (once I have a task decided, i.e get new shield etc, I just get laser-focused on it)
  • Final Fantasy VII (Gold Saucer mini-games & Chocobo breeding)
  • The Last of Us (both 1 & 2 - I think this comes down the fact that's there no loading screens once you're in-game. And loading screens sometimes seem like a natural stopping point.)
  • A Plague Tale : Innocence & Requiem
Suggestions welcome.

Strategy games. Stuff like Civilization is famous for that ("just one more turn!") but other more modern games can be quite addicting as well, like Factorio or RimWorld.

I spend unhealthy hours messing with my unites and making best squad.....This game can be crazy addictive.

Final Fantasy Tactics , easily.

Before I knew it , I put 250+ hours on one save file. 😲

Levelling up classes to form my own dream team became incredibly addictive.

Ultima Online

Diablo 2/D2R

don't think anything has else has come close. those 2 titles are absolute blackholes that have consumed an ungodly amount of my time

I still revisit each every several years and sink a few hundred or so hours all over again

recently, for whatever reason I just had a whole afternoon to myself and I sat on the couch and just kept fighting npcs in the SF6 single player mode for 4 hours. Just running around Metro City and Nayshall fighting anyone I could.

No Man's Sky

True story: my wife and I played for hours and didn't realize how late it was until a fucking tree fell on our house lol Then we realized it was like 2 in the morning

Football Manager games. I would always tell myself when it was late: Just one more match, or another 30 minutes, only to go to sleep five hours later.

Kingdom Come 2. Spent 50 hours fucking around and doing side stuff before even doing the first main quest. The main quest was excellent too btw.

Supreme Commander 2 - when multiplayer game can last an hour plus - "just one more game" can be dangerous.
Battlefield 4 or BC2 - BF4 definitely can suffer from the same long game issue - but BC2 was always just begging for you to play just one more round - especially when you got in a good squad.

Regularly happened when I was big into competitive Age of Empires 2. I'd get home from school around 4 p.m. on a Friday, fire up the game and the MSN Zone, and next thing I knew it was like 3 a.m.

I'm time obsessed. I know exactly how long I'm gonna play before I sit down. It's not fun, but hey, it's how I am..

How could I forgot:

Subnautica

I'm gonna quit for the night...oh wait...if I just find one more Lead thingie I can make this awesome new thing I haven't made yet...oh right Lead is like 1000m away in a cave...buuut...I really wanna see new shiny...OH i'm on my way just real quick...BREEHHHH WTF IS THIS NEW CAVE!? I NEED TO GO FABRICATE A WAYPOINT DEVICE THINGIE BEFORE I FORGET TO EXPLORE THIS!

It's fucking 2AM.

100+ hrs have rarely happened to me, less than 10 games to be precise. I'm not in the 500 to 2500 hrs league and never wish to. I'm ahead in my life actually, I've never relate earning money with going to school and college, call me a genius but I went to school for the soul purpose of washing my depressing business head at a very young age and the most second reason is to relate myself to society.

Factorio - (black hole)
Civilization IV and V - (a couple more moves and I'll definitely put it off until tomorrow...)

Emulating can take away time from me, especially when playing a Nintendo title. Just something about Zelda with hours going like nothing. It's been a damn good weekend even with this crazy heat.

HOLLY FUCK this game was addictive, even after platinuming the game, I couldn't stop playing.

Halo 2 is the big 1 for me. I finished school at 16 and was working full time right away June 2004. All was good untill Halo 2 came out later that year, I would get home, showered ect and onto Halo 2 asap, there was a load of us that played that and a few other games but Halo 2 was the main game. I spent about 4 years telling myself "right in bed and sleeping for 2300", only to still be playing at 0200-0300 and being completly fucked the next time. I wouldnt change it though, amazing times with some good people, thankfully I still talk to a few of them but sadly we dont realy game together anymore due to real life shit.
