Can I just ask, how many hours a day are you playing to finish so many games? You're listing finishing a Fire Emblem campaign every couple of days, multiple lengthy JRPGs only a few days after finishing the previous game. How do you do it? I mean, a lot of these are new so I'm presuming you're playing them for the first time, you must rattle through them insanely fast! It takes me at least a couple of weeks to go through a 30 hour+ rpg.

I beat all of the Fallout 4 DLC this year too. If you want to count it, I beat Destiny Rise of Iron content since I did everything possible in it.

I've beaten less games in recent years because of stuff like Destiny and The Division. It doesn't help that I spent the back half of the summer playing Neverwinter when it launched on PS4.

I'm currently working through Hitman and I'm still sitting on both Witcher 3 expansions. I'm finding it I play fewer games, but I'm dumping more time into them.

Pretty damn good! 25 games on the dot. I honestly think I completed more games this year than I did in the last few years combined, when I started getting a bad habit of stocking up during PS3 flash sales and not getting around to most of them. Hoping to keep it up that way. My goal moving forth is to never buy a game unless I'm completely intending to finish it in the near-future. For next year I'll probably be going back and finishing off some other games I started but never beat.

I did start a couple games late in the year (e.g. Xmas presents) that will probably last me through next year. World of Final Fantasy and Twilight Princess HD are the big ones there. I have Overwatch but that's not a game you can really "'beat". I count getting through arcade mode as beating a fighting game.

Oh boy.

Roughly. All of these are for the first time.

1. Dark Souls - 10/10. I thought it was fantastic before then but O&S made it one of my favorites of all time. Back half is weaker but in some cases deliberately so, but Lost Izalith and Bed of Chaos can go fuck themselves.

2. Resi Remake HD - 10/10. Never beat an old-school Resi before but loved it. I'd still prefer a slightly more modern game in the sense that it doesn't rely on clever solutions to technical issues for horror etc but it was well paced, beautiful and quite lengthy.

3. The Witness - 8/10. It was very good, but felt somewhat...I don't know if pretentious is the right word, but I'll settle for it. A bunch of the puzzles also felt like they had quite obtuse solutions.

4. XCOM 2 - 9/10. Had a bunch of technical problems and performance issues that simply should not have been an issue...but it was the formula from Enemy Unknown polished and iterated upon, with a lengthy and difficult campaign. Shame no XPAC announcement.

5. Dying Light: The Following - 7/10. Compared to the vanilla game it felt a bit poor, but still very good. I didn't think the buggies were that great, the story was ok, and it didn't come together quite as well as the main game.

6. Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse - 9/10. Great game, and hugely improved sequel from a gameplay POV to SMTIV but the final dungeon threatened to kill it for me and the final boss felt...well it was tough but didn't feel warranted, totally.

7. Street Fighter V - 7/10. I'm no good at any fighting game bar Soul Calibur, but SFV was fun. It was pretty easy to pickup and once I was able to do a few Chun Li special moves I was happy, but I just had no...desire, to really stick around with it.

8. Danganronpa 1 - 7/10. Good, crazy and quite fun butit feels like it's not going anywhere and given what I've read happens in the last game I'm sort of glad I didn't persevere too much.

9. Hitman - 10/10. A friend had used my laptop to play Blood Money when I was at boarding school years ago but apart from like 3/4 of Absolution I'd never played a Hitman game. I found the episodic structure fantastic for giving me time to learn, master and experiment, while also giving the devs time to make fantastic and worthy levels. Roll on S2.

10. Quantum Break - 6/10. Decent game, good even...but a bunch of issues. It didn't feel as fluid and fun to play as I was expecting and I didn't reaaally care for the story as much as I had hoped.

11. Dark Souls 3 - 10/10. Didn't really hit the heights of DS1, DeSo or BB, but it was still a great game. Someone mentioned it felt like a Greatest Hits of the Souls series and that is probably true, the game felt like this was the last word FromSoft would say about Dark Souls...I didn't feel that all it had going for it was fan service in the way some people felt and the linear and DS2-ified world design hurt it...but I've still put 250 hours or so into it.

12. Ratchet and Clank - 8/10. Very fun, wild and a good time...kinda wish Insomniac(?) got to do more of modern re imaginings but then they'd never do anything properly new..

13. Uncharted 4 - 8/10. From a technical and artistic perspective, it was incredible...from a storytelling etc point of view it was still great...it just didn't click with me in quite the same way that 2 did years ago. It's still impressive that ND allow you so much time away from firefights.

14. Doom - 9/10. The most ridiculously well playing and fun shooter I've played in a long time. Far better than it has any right to be.

15. Overwatch - 10/10. Incredibly fun, especially with friends, and a large and varied cast. I guess it'd become by GOTY just on hours devoted to it.

16. Total War Warhammer - 8/10. It was fun, a bit poor technically...but somehow made me just miss the historical epics of traditional total war games.

17. Batman Telltale - 8/10. I really want an S2...but the engine still isn't great. The fact it was quick and regular releases blows my mind. Good story, but I still find myself just wanting Telltale to let me skip the actual gameplay bits, vs it being a visual novel...because I just find them too finnicky, weirdly.

18. Deus Ex Mankind Divided - 7/10. Fun, pretty and an interesting story..but gutted by someone at SE, allegedly. It's a shame because they had the makings of a good sequel but it doesn't move things forward in the way Human Revolution did.

19. Demon's Souls - 10/10. I still thought it was great, but for some reason it just *clicked* when I got to the Maiden Astraea fight. An incredible game. I feel like DeSo, DaSo and BB are Miyazaki's Souls trilogy.

20. Ace Attorney 1 - 9/10. Some cases were a bit overlong but its so ridiculously goofy and charming I can't help but smile and feel warm inside whenever Phoenix shouts "OBJECTION!" and the Cornered music kicks in. So fucking good.

21. Dragon Quest VII - 7/10. Good game, fun in a retro way but soooooooo overlong. Finished it but stopped caring as much like halfway through.

22. Gears of War 4 - 7/10. It was fun, the characters were cool and story teases were cool but I think...I don't know, but maybe I've stopped caring about Gears quite as much.

23. Pokemon SuMo - 8/10. Pretty good reinvention of the formula, reasonably lengthy and more challenging than recent Gens...but I feel like the disconnect between the presentation and the stories GameFreak wants to tell is greater than ever and it suffers.

24. Final Fantasy XV - 8/10. After all these years it was never gonna live up to the hype but I had a final 80 odd hours in Eos.

It takes me at least a couple of weeks to go through a 30 hour+ rpg.

I don't like sleep and I really like coffee.
That is to say- I very rarely sit around idle or nap or such. It's pretty much the only way I can play so much while keeping up with college and a social life/doing other things.
That said, my rhythm game addiction and breaks dent the list, see the last 2 months where I played next to nothing vs before it.

So...how many hours? Variable! I've been on vacation so nothing really the past few days besides an hour or so of S;G0 a day, but sometimes I'll play straight through a game I love~
It helps that I can reasonably perform at a 9am class/test even if I sleep at 4 <_<

1. Devil May Cry / PS3 / A personal history lesson in character action games. Still great.
2. Devil May Cry 2 / PS3 / Awful sequel.
3. Legend Of Legacy / 3DS / Weird JRPG by the SaGa guy. Had a hard time beating it.
4. Gravity Rush Remastered / PS4 / Never owned a Vita, so I was happy to finally be able to play this. (*)
5. Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale / 3DS / Very underrated and charming SRPG. (*)
6. Onimusha 3 - Demon Seige / PS2 / Story got weirder with each game in the series, but I still liked it.
7. Devil May Cry 3 / PS3 / Probably my favorite Devil My Cry game.
8. Dark Souls 3 / PS4 / Felt like the Greatest Hits album by your favorite band, that also has a handful of solid but forgettable new tracks on the b-side. (*)
9. The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky FC / PC / So good. The beginning of my year dedicated to mostly Kiseki.
10. Star Fox Zero / Wii U / Really wanted to like this, but couldn't. Sorry, Miyamoto, but wtf.

12. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition / PS4 / Lots of backtracking, but the combat felt great.
13. Fire Emblem Fates Birthright / 3DS / Still need to play the other two sides. So far it’s good, but I prefer Awakening. (*)
14. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness / PS4 / Started decent enough, but got ugly pretty quick. Felt very low budget.
15. Ys 1 / PC / My Falcom love continued with the first Ys. Screw the final boss, but I plan to play the sequel in 2017.
16. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel / PS3 / Slow build up, but I enjoyed every moment.
17. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked / 3DS / Very hard game for a noob like me, but the story kept me going.
18. Zelda Oracle Of Ages / 3DS / Solid 2D Zelda, but I prefer Seasons.
19. The Legend of Heroes - Trails of Cold Steel 2 / PS3 / Easily the best console JRPG since the original Xenoblade. Great sequel and my number 2 of the year. (*)
20. Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel DLC / PS4 / Alright DLC, but nothing new really.
21. Dragon Quest 7 / 3DS / Nice remake that I enjoyed a lot, even though I had played the lengthy original not that long ago. (*)
22. Super Mario Bros 1 / NES Classic / Still holds up.
23. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE / Wii U / Weird J-Pop mix of Persona & Fire Emblem that never 100% clicked with me. (*)
24. Super Mario Bros 2 / NES Classic / Finally beat it after so many years.
25. Yokai Watch 2 / 3DS / Big fan of YW’s Boku no Natsuyasumi-like nostalgia, and in the end I even enjoyed collecting Nyans. (*)
26. Final Fantasy XV / PS4 / A mess of a game with a dark but great ending that brought back my love for Final Fantasy. (*)
27. The Last Guardian / PS4 / I really hope Ueda continues making games like this, because no one else is making them. My GOTY. (*)
28. The Legend Of Zelda / NES Classic / A journey back to my childhood. Still a fantastic game.
