• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Games you started again right after finishing?

I'm up to Chapter 2 of RE4, playing it on Pro after completing it on Normal.

I finished Assignment Ada but didn't have enough for the Chicago Typewriter. Had a cup of coffee with Mercenaries but couldn't come close to the first village challenge.

Maybe this is the just the old tired topic of 'replayability', and a testament to the greatness of RE4.

A single player game that you want to play over and over again.

The only other game I turned right around and started again was Halo, but I couldn't hack it.

In fact I hardly ever replay games, maybe Skies of Arcadia on GC.

Recently there would have been RE3 and Aria of Sorrow but my backlog is too big, i had to go for other games waiting ;)

Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VIII, Fallout 1 and 2, Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness, Final Fantasy IV/II, ICO, Shining Force 2, Battle Clash...

all I can remember right off the bat. :D

From this gen, Jet Set Radio on DC (countless times on the import then again on the U.S. version), Aria of Sorrow on GBA (played it through three times in a row...IIRC once on normal, then twice on hard, getting everything) PN03 (like three times in a row to get everything unlocked), and Resident Evil 4 (twice in a row...it's getting about time to play it through again soon, too!)

Hehe. Rez. Over, and over, and over, and over again. \o/

Same thing, but to a somewhat lesser extent, goes for Cosmic Smash.

I beat RE4 3 times in a row (stopping only to get more 5 stars in Mercenaries minigames, and assignment ADA).

RE4 was the only game i can think of, other than like Star Fox 64 or something that you can beat 15 times without breaking a sweat.

Speaking of RE4 :D

I changed my tactics a bit this time on Pro, I guess knowing I'm going to get better stuff.

Haven't upgraded my weaps yet, at this point. Not until I get the Blacktail or Magnum (haven't decided yet), Riot Gun and whatever that better rifle is.

I never used the TMP at all first time around, this time I bought it since there always seemed to be ammo for it and maybe good to keep the swarm off you.

And I held off on the rifle til the catapult stage, but this time I got it right away. I even use it in close quarters in a pinch :lol

I remember having to change tactics in Halo on Legendary, no more run and gun and more duck and pop.

I don't replay games very often. They have to be really fun, and addictive. The last game that got me to start playing again right away was Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox.

Ick, Riot gun? Save your money for the Striker, which I know comes later but still.

And there's a free magnum in the game.
There's an area where you don't have Ashley where it goes "if you had two people you could get through that window." Backtrack and reap the rewards

For some reason, when I saw the thread title, I immediately thought that people would be mentioning RE4. Little did I know, the thread starter actually had it in mind. Personally, it was the exact opposite for me. I really had to force myself to even beat it in the first place. It just got so tedious towards the end. After beating it, I played one mission from Mercenaries and haven't turned on my Gamecube since.

As far as games I actually did start on again after finishing, I really can't think of any. Generally, there's always something I want to play next.

I think Luigi's Mansion is the only one that I immediately picked up again. I completed that one twice within the first couple days of GameCube's launch.

Yeah I had the Striker 1st run through. I thought I heard somewhere it was better to just stick with the Riot Gun.

Mostly I want whatever will help me kill that Right Hand dude this time around :D

EDIT: Yep got that freebie 1st time. Hardly used it since my brother in law told me ammo was scare but I finished with like 20 or 50 rounds.

RE4

I did it for Rez, Ikaruga, and just about every fighting game, but I don't really count those since they are designed to be beaten over and over again.

This generation...and not counting PC games...

Ace Combat 4 (still can't believe I sold this game...)
Amplitude
Devil May Cry
Frequency
Gitaroo Man
Lego Star Wars
Rez
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
KOTOR
Eternal Darkness

DMC3, Otogi 2, Ninja Gaiden, and Shinobi for this gen. Gunvalkyrie, too, if you count playing tons of challenge mode after beating the main game.

i just started another game of ninja gaiden (best action game might i add). just beat it on normal earlier this week, started hard difficulty right after. it's actually a bit easier this time since i know the move set and how and when to use combos

edit: i guess i shoud list some other games eh...

resident evil 4 (i beat this game 5 times in a row)
rez
zoe 2
mgs1
mgs2
mgs3
ace combat 4

RE 4 twice and then some mini games then started a 3rd and stopped a 1/4 way in.

most games after being beat are either shelved or swapped out.

Resident Evil 4 was the last one. Played through it 3 times, didn't find Pro to be as difficult as most were claiming. Still nice. Silent Hill 2 is the only other one I can remember.

Same here, saved it... didn't use it.

The right hand guy is tough, and on pro it's even worse. Hope your magnum is powered up. If you aren't gonna use a RL, best of luck to you :lol

This generation:
God of War
Katamari Damacy
Warcraft 3

Others:
Super Mario Brothers (for about a week straight back in the day)

MGS3(played though it 4 times in a row, in fact. I've put nearly 100 hours into this game. :P)

MGS1

MGS2

Ace Combat 04

Devil May Cry 3

That's about it, really.

edit: I guess I forgot Chrono Trigger, hehe. New game+ is something all RPGs should have.

Ico, believing at the time that there was no way a game released in the US would get fewer features than the rest of the world, right?

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

I beat it and started a continued save on Hard mode and kept playing. That game is kick ass.
