Bowser: "It's not technology for technology's sake. It's how specifically can technology enhance a gameplay experience. And then where do you apply that technology? Do you want to apply it on current existing hardware or platforms, or do you want to wait for the next platform? And then what's the right gameplay experience with that? There's a host of factors that goes into it, and it's something we're always looking at."

for some reason I think the "switch pro" will be the switch 2. Maybe they had the intention to release a pro version but thanks to the pandemic, shortage and the big sales of the current switch maybe they thought: "you know what? the switch can last until march 2023"

I just really wish they'd either confirm or deny the existence of it at this point becuase it's annoying for people like me who want a Switch, but don't wanna get burned when an improved version gets announced shortly after purchasing said Switch.

if you didnt buy it till now than you should clearly wait till Q1 End of 22 because there Nintendo will confirm or deny it.

That's exactly why they don't do it. They don't want people to not want to buy a Switch because a better version is right around the corner.

Grr…

I bought a Switch Lite, waiting on a Switch Pro for my TV gaming. I thought it was a sure-thing going off the internets.

maybe they're still thinking the marketing/branding for this. A "Switch 2" would definitely make more noise than a "Switch Pro"

It has the same affect either way on someone who keeps up with game related rumours like myself. I won't be buying until I know for sure.

But I can understand their concern over the possibility of a negative impact on sales in the casual market if they were to make an early announcement of new hardware.

More poll options please. No point in having a poll if it's just going to reinforce one opinion (unless it's a joke poll, then go for it).

Anyway, I guess I'm kind of a resigned optimist. While I wouldn't be remotely shocked to see Nintendo not putting out new hardware this year, the insiders being mistaken or full of it, etc. etc. I still think the NEW Switch might follow the Switch Lite and NEW 3DS pattern--mid-summer announcement and early fall release.

The longer you wait, the more likely this is to happen. Just buy it now.

The only reason I don't think that's possible is Nintendo would like a system seller with the new hardware.

I agree with you because I want more powerful Switch. But companies are always experimenting with technology and there is always a hardware that they developing. They really waiting a right time - it's a bit hard times now and old Switch doing just good.

Fair, but Miyamoto also straight up denied the NEW 3DS about three weeks before it was ankounced. This is vague corporate speak from the head of NoA, not even a decision maker. I wouldn't discount it or say your read is wrong, but I also wouldn't rely too heavily on it, especially since the corporate doublespeak doesn't actually deny a Switch Pro coming this year. It just says they'll announce it when they're good and ready. *shrug*

Again, you're probably right, but never say never with Nintendo, especially when it comes to hardware announcements. I can't vote unless there's an "I want to believe option."

EDIT: Oh, and any new Switch hardware will sell itself for a while. BotW2 could give it a nice bump a few months later though.

Added Fall 2021, pokemon legends arceus is in January so maybe it is possible.

Reading this made me consider one thing in particular, maybe Nintendo was on track for botw2 this November, and switch pro, but at the last second decided they needed to delay zelda. So maybe it pushed them to decide to delay the switch pro launch too?

Nintendo is always working on new hardware but they will announce it when it most benefits them not when fanboys want.

If they announced a new Switch right now when its not ready the current model sales will slow down

Didn't we just have a thread with an almost identical poll about this?

Zero marks for originality and for a lame ass Nintendo quotation.

I think it's not because people want it know, people were expecting an announcement before E3 thanks to Bloomberg. Supposedly they're a reputable source of information because they deal with economics and have real insiders. Maybe Nintendo threw a bait or maybe their info is outdated.

I have the utmost faith in Nintendo as a company. I truly believe that they know exactly what they're doing and I trust their leadership at the very top of the company. Shuntaro Furukawa is a great president and may very well be the greatest president that Nintendo has ever had.

His reply makes it seem like the Pro version will be some sort of holy grail of technology and what it will do.

When in reality the tech in it is already outdated. Just hurry it up and get developers some elbow room already to enhance their games.

Since they announced Zelda for 2022, then I can defo see the Switch to go with it. Just like they did in 2017.

The Switch Pro is speculation. It's the same situation as Wii HD.

They can't deny it because they are always working on something. There is no way to situate it, without dropping an announcement. Back in the day Reggie said "there is no Wii HD" to Geoff and nobody listened..

It won't matter whatever they say now.

The speculation will continue..

Yeah there were some insiders making noise i was also expecting an announcement before E3, but ultimately its not Nintendo's fault or anything so i think the best is to ignore them for now, people were so annoying demanding the pro before E3 i hope everything calms down for a few months

Like I said many times .. there is no need. And when they will announce , it's a smaller version with more battery life and the same specs . But you guys wa t to keep believing 🤣 Nintendo does great things with garbage hardware , was almost always the case ..

I hope it plays all my old switch games and maybe improves performance/res for older titles and adds basic social features (maybe expecting a little too much with my last two requests with Nintendo) but I would love to be able to play mh:rise at 60fps.

Why would they rush? They're selling tons of Switch to the point where they're surpassing the overall sales of Nintendo's biggest hits (and approaching Wii sales... which is completely insane)
