"In an attempt to bring a better sense of continuity and immersion to the experience, Ghost Recon 3 will offer no out-of-engine cutscenes or loading times, aside from when you boot up the game. As you move with your four-man team from district to district, completing one objective after another, the experience of playing promises to be seamless. You won't wait for the next level to load or deal with the traditional stop-and-go nature of most shooter games."

a full order of magnitude higher than the models used in Ghost Recon 2

Catch phrase of this generation

This is great to hear! Reducing load times is one of the things I want to see come next generation. There is nothinig more annoying than to be bombarded with long load times or frequent load times as you're playing a game. It makes playing a game less more immersive, and if this can be severely reduced, that will make for a much better overall gameplay experience.

This is true, every long load time makes me think about other things I could do with my time. Makes me more likely to game less. Games with little ot no load times OTOH makes the hours fly by, you feel like you're on one big ride with no stops. GTA's, GoW and Halo all did that to me.

If I made a game system today, my requirements would first and foremost be no in-game loading times whatsoever and consistent 60fps frame rates. Then, all the other stuff.

agreed. Atleast on the loading part.

With the horsepower of next gen consoles, shouldn't we EXPECT at least 30FPS consistent at a minimum?

I agree every game should be 60FPS though. :D

tony hawk said theres no load times in his new game for xbox360, i wonder if any other games will be like that.

Alot of games are doing that today......a big load at the beginning of the game and few, if any, loads during the rest of the game....

Judging from what was shown on MTV, that'll probably be the only thing "next gen" with that game.

Funny thing is, If XBox ran a tony hawk game at N64 resolution and model/level complexity, the damn game wouldn't have no load times either. Tony Hawk and Activision can go eat a dick.

what is with this image? The only way to move the franchise forward is to amalgamate BMXXXX?

Tony Hawk American Wasteland (What a name! Run, run, run that series into the ground some more!) looked pathetic on the MTV show. It's so bad in its current form MS shouldn't even approve it for release on the 360.

What!? They'll be able to make a playable version of Stuntman?

Don't encourage them (editors, that is). They're always looking for an inside joke.

I agree.

if you look back to the most of the 1990s, most 3D arcade games from NAMCO and SEGA were running at a constant 60 FPS. of course the detail was several orders of magnitude less than what we have today, but so what, it was SMOOTH.

60 FPS is so important. not just for visual quality but for GAME PLAY (which is supposed to be king) as well.

Ghost Recon 3 is the Xbox 360 game that impressed me the most so far, too bad I have zero interest in it. I hope MS pulls something off at E3 :)
