GamesRadar leaks Mists of Pandaria (WoW) videos and screens

God, those videos got such an itch going to go explore that stuff. Exploration was always my favorite part of MMOs (and the lack of it lately is a big reason I haven't played MMOs in forever). But yeah, not going to buy an expansion and resub for a month just to look around.

It is in some MMOs, but in wow you know there will be no danger or nothing unique or interesting to discover, or rare to find. You'll just be seeing the quest hubs a little earlier

I don't know exactly but something happened between him and Blizzard.

He also said it in his daily mailbox thingy.
It sounded much simpler than that earlier. He has no remaining interest in World of Warcraft and finds the time investment to be too great for content coverage. He feels no desire to make videos for games he's uninterested in because he feels like his perspective would be unhelpful.

He also has an audience already thanks to those videos, so he can pretty much just do whatever he feels like.

you are a lucky man. unfortunately for me, i have a spare 60 day playcard so ill probably end up getting MOP (collectors edition most likely). probably will speed to 90, do all the major zones and dungeons, and call it a day (or month or two).

The only thing that really has my interest about this expansion are the new PvP modes they were talking about when they announced it. Payload and DOTA style gameplay tailored to WoW sounds pretty damn awesome. Looking forward to seeing some footage of those(if they end up making it in the game). Those zones don't look particularly interesting to me. Everything looks too samey. Heroic SM and Scholo sound pretty damn awesome. Don't think those will be enough to make me resub though.

The video aren't terribly exciting...just zone overviews. Looks like a lot of greenery this time around, which is a good thing. The last few expansions have been desolate, and I'm up for a change in scenery.

So much this. Sick to death of all the dark colored, gloomy tinted crappy zones. These look much better. Something I can stand to look at while clearing the zones.

And I cannot wait for the new SM:Cathedral. My favorite instance in the game. I hope they keep the pulls in the cathedral area dangerous. I remember wiping many times back at release in there if you pulled to many at once.

In 2004, we 40 manned it before the cap fix.

40 manned a 5-10 person dungeon, and we still wiped at times.

I remember 15 manning Undead Strat regularly. Or maybe 10, but Im almost sure it was 15. Its sort of crazy how much the game has changed.

Nice environmental designs, but I don't think even the power of the pandas can make me go back. Probably only play it again if it switched to F2P so I could fool around once more.

That video is painful to watch. WoW is a once-mighty thoroughbred that broke a leg 3 or 4 years ago. They need to just take the poor thing out back and shoot it already.

Looks gorgeous, and I like that they're implementing some Monk enemy types into heroic Scarlet Monastery. Haters be damned, I'm hyped.

Then again, every WoW thread on GAF is always hijacked by disgruntled ex-players who bitch about how "terrible" the game is now, so despite the new content looking interesting I'm sure this thread will go south pretty quickly.

I thought the video gave off a very strong Burning Crusades vibe, which I think is a good thing.

Yeah, they should totally kill a game that is still extremely successful and profitable...

Wat?

I'm surprised that they seem to have made a ton of new assets for this expansion. Blizzard has been previously pretty much the cheapest bunch of devs with crapton of money. Maybe they actually now have the incentive to invest more into this game as it's in bit of a decline and there is legitimate competition out there.

The locations look lovely, but with no new villain or radical overhaul I'm finding it hard to get excited for this expansion - it feels like a kind of 'more of the same' burning crusade, which was fine when the game was on fire but.. urg, who am I kidding. I just want a graphics overhaul already!

The zones look absolutely gorgeous. I'm so excited to the big continent, I really missed the lack of a new continent in Cataclysm.

It perplexes me that they are updating SM and Scholo with heroic versions now. How does this fit into the lore of a post-WotLK world? The Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade were basically finished after Arthas was removed. That was part of the point of the stories of the new healing Plaguelands zones in the Cataclysm old world.

The new zones look fine. I'll play it again the same way that I always do with a new expansion: sub for a month or two until I max out a couple characters (probably a Pandaren monk this time around) and then quit again. I'm not sure where people are coming from when they say it looks horrible. I understand that it's cool to hate Blizzard and to slap a nebulous tag of "Cataclysm and WoW suck because I said so", but in my world it's necessary to have reasons to support your opinions.

The Wandering Isle music reminds me a lot of the GW Factions theme.

Exactly what I was thinking. Made me wanna go play through that again, if only I could get back into my accounts.

I'm going to remain on the fence about MoP, but I'll end up getting into it eventually. Due in no small part to the fact that so many of my friends still play.

Well whenever it gets like that, just think of the many people like me who thoroughly enjoyed their time with the game and don't wish ill toward it. I suppose most of my ambivalence comes from the fact that I played on RP servers :P

The new zones look good, but I think I'm only going to resub because of the Pokémon stuff.

Damn I wish this had the reveal of the female Pandaren. Nonetheless, this looks fucking amazing. If the music that's first played is a sample of the soundtrack then we're up for one hell of a ride.

Will be going for realm first 90 like a boss. Mal'Ganis players, come at me bros!

I should transfer just to race you for dat druid title.

Going for realm first on Mal'Ganis?

Yoshi I knew you were insane, but wow.

I was kidding :lol I have no intentions of ruining my leveling experience like I did in Cataclysm (second realm first 85). I'm taking my sweet as time with MoP (I'll still do it within 24 hours but I won't run the same dungeon over and over again).

TOR has kind of killed me on story-less RPGs. Which WoW is a more "fun" game, I expect more out of my NPCs now.

WoW with TOR's dialogue system would fucking own my life and ballooon me up to 400 pounds though.

Meh, I played TOR for a month and I don't really miss it. It's cool at first but it becomes a chore to have to click through dialog sometimes, particularly since Star Wars is such a black and white universe.

All depends on the classes. Agents get to play as morally grey as you want. Do you shag the chick to shut her up, do you bribe her, kill her etc

WoW is a known quantity at this point, either you're a disgruntled ex-player who complains about how X ruined the game, a non-player/ex-player who just doesn't care at all, a current player who enjoys it as a videogame, or a current player who treats it like an emotional lifestyle choice.

The last crowd tends to turn into the first crowd.

I'll take that over a brick of heartless text I'll never read that basically says "go kill this many things". I feel more attached to my TOR characters than I do now or ever did with my 6 year old WoW alts.

Like I said, I just like that myself.

but ultimately you still get 'light side' points or 'dark side' points. IIRC that Agent quest on Nar Shaddaa allowed you sleep with the guy for your light side points, just silly.

There was a great article that someone wrote about it, I might try to find it..

Art looks great, as always, but I have absolutely no faith in the people working on mechanics and encounter design anymore.

The problem with all themepark MMORPGs (WoW, SWTOR, and most other things) become more and more apparent.

These games have massive barriers that keep people from playing together in meaningful ways. There are lots of conservative MMORPG gamers who have very refined and strict policies on what is right and wrong within a MMO. I think it is holding the genre back.

MMORPG fans are among the most vocal sort of gamers, as they have something to say about every single patch, that a game they play for perhaps 5-10 years, since it will constantly change, and sometimes for the worse.

In that regard you are right and they have acknowledged they are bringing in a 3rd moral compas direction. The light and dark really depend on perspective. Like a Light Side sith is astill a total asshole who will fuck the galaxy given the chance he is just pro empire rather than self absorbed.

Pandaria looks nice and all, but I want to know what's going on between the Horde and the Alliance and I want to know if there really is no main bad guy. They keep saying that this expansion is about the Alliance VS Horde conflict, but we haven't actually seen anything besides Pandaria. I doubt we would ever have a raid where you actually attack SW and fight Varian as the last boss, but that's what I want to see.
