GamesRadar leaks Mists of Pandaria (WoW) videos and screens

Think I'm going to park my WoW sub until this comes out. Been playing on and off again the last two months after a long hiatus.

Looks great so far, hoping for a 2012 release.

The initial announcement had me a little wary, but I think this looks pretty damn cool. Nice change of pace from all the dark grim-grim dark stuff from the past few expansions.

And like someone else said, all this stuff is making me get that exploration itch. Questing in these zones would probably be awesome.

Shit...I'm probably going to have to re-up my subscription.

Why can't they make this the new Tauren player model? Just slightly edit the colours and horns etc. :<

LOL are you fucking serious?

The problem with The Old Republic's art style is that it lacks soul. It's so bland and the armor(even the hard/heavy armor) looks like unbaked clay for the most part. That's the one thing I couldn't get over when I played the beta, how shitty the game looked. Where as WoW oozes creativity, color, and well-developed environments and concepts. More like TOR can't hold a candle to modern WoW. WoW has mastered their art style.

You must be a "serious-is-better" kind of guy. WoW is more toony but at least they know their strength. You can tell the WoW artists have a lot of passion for world creating. Lots of vibrant characters and lands. The worlds in Old Republic look pretty repetitive...

So kiddy/ cartoony and simplistic is better than semi realistic and true to source? Cartoony means has soul? I disagree with pretty much your entire post but its your opinion.

Yes I think the bottom pic looks better.

I think SWTOR's art does a great job for level 40-49 gear, but then the endgame gear suddenly looks like chimps began to mash on keyboards and art tablets.

I want the beta. I want the beta now.

I don't even care about questing and messing around with new class stuff, I just want to explore all of these beautiful places.

Those screenshots are fucking gorgeous. Jesus.

Great environmental art as usual. It's been YEARS since I played WoW "seriously" - since Burning Crusade. But every expansion I still buy and sub for a few months to at least explore the new zones.

Pandaria I planned on skipping, but man... those zones look really great. I'm looking forward to seeing what is beyond each hillcrest I'm seeing in those screens.

my problem with SWTORs art is that it's inconsistent. It doesn't ever realize what it wants the art style to be, so it's a mash of a few similar things that don't quite gel correctly. Plus, a lot of the environments are just constructed poorly.. the game (from what I've seen and played) just feels 'bland', whereas WoW, while cartoony, knows exactly what it wants to be, and is constructed very, very well. If you can't see past another 500 polygons and some shader tricks then.. well.. congrats. I'm willing to bet you think every psp game looks better than every ds game too, right?

Can't wait to play heroic SM Armory with people dying because they haven't learned to not stand in Herod's whirlwind 50 levels later.

Extremely lovely environments, which is why moving back to a new continent with a central theme was so important. Northrend was gorgeous and filled with a lot of subtleties and bitsmof art that went beyond most open world games. Still, New environments and assets always look nice until you fill it with dreamcast geometry characters wearing retextured armor from 2004. =\

Or until you're stuck entirely in narrow hallways with nothing but rave lights to look at!

If they'd just update the models, move to new armor meshes and get content back into the game world like they promised it'd be such a big deal.

But as lovely as the environments are, it won't change the fact that they won't and it's just going to be the same busted shit as cataclysm. You'll burn through everything of merit in two weeks of casual play then it's back to salt mines.

SWTOR has nice open environments and good looking armor when it tries to actually look like armor and clothing but it suffers from the same rejected superhero design gig that WoW does where everything has to be ridiculous. Best looking piece of armor I saw was a level 10 coat for the agent.

Same problems as wow pretty much entirely, it had a good, leveling game but their refusal to budge from anything but the standard EQ type made it unplayable after the wind down for anyone wanting something fresher.

Speaking from Empire / Bounty Hunter perspective, I loved the armor from 40-49. Then endgame token armor looked like armor that would be custom made for Uglyman, Emperor of Hideoustropolis.

Completely misunderstood my post. WoW's art style has soul for other reasons. It's got nothing to do with the style/aesthetic of the two games. I'd say Mass Effect's art style has tons of soul in comparison to The Old Republic. That's how you design a sci-fi universe. The Old Republic is just endlessly bland in it's characters, costumes, and cities. It just feels uninspired.

I totally agree. I have nothing against The Old Republic, but the art is just not that good, especially when it comes to armor and such. Though, I will say my Jedi Sent's face looks awesome. Just wish everything else looked as cool.

Yeah, a lot of it is silly looking. I'm glad 1.2 is basically allowing you to bypass how armor looks entirely.

Pandas... PANDAS PANDAS PANDAS! What is it with people and goddamn pandas? Hate pandas, people go all gaga over the damn things. Fuck pandas! Stupid things. We should be spending or time on animals that make an effort to exist.
