GameStop declares the end of the console wars

My man Adam

I hope one day if Xbox is still around and GameStop shuts down that Phil tweets some shit for the lulz to bring it full circle.

Kinda funny and i understand It's probably stretched to fit what's happening, but console wars didn't start with Halo..
And probably will not end with Halo.

I mean, was there ever really a war? The commoners fought amongst themselves, but the PC players were ever the puppet masters, making them dance for our entertainment.

How long do you think this peace can last?
The next battle is not with consoles. It is the PC OS. For a long time, PC gaming was on MS-Dos. Then Gabe Newell's team at Microsoft showed that you CAN run game software on a Windows OS. And from then on most PC games just run on Windows.

Decades it went, until MS tried to lock down gaming via PC Apps that also blocks mods. Thankfully the app format also has massive compatibility problems with Windows itself and as such the Microsoft store sucked and couldn't work. But Gabe can see what his former employers are trying to do, and had been building the Steam OS for years. And now the SteamOs is basically ready. The only down side is that major game studios have security systems that just don't recognize Linux as a legit operating system, and that is not Valve's fault. And with its light weight design, the SteamOS is now beneficial to hand held PC gaming hardware for being bloat-free.

Microsoft had taken gaming on Windows for granted. If they get challenged there they are going to have a crisis,

Xbox has been the biggest driver toward all digital. It seems GameStop holds a grudge and it quite enjoying the demise of Xbox.

I chuckled, good job GS marketing.

That said, the idea that console wars started in 2001 w/Halo is also funny since there are still people fighting about 90s Sega vs Nintendo vs Sony all over the internet.

Those guys won't stop until they're dead.
These conflicts go back half a century, but they used to be a more gentlemanly pursuit
