BLACK!? As in, there's an option soon enough to indicate that on the box!?
Give us that white Sony!

Benefit of using standard x86 silicon.
Yeah, I was thinking since its all off the shelf parts they must be confident to blast through production at a high rate.
Based on those mock-ups gaf made I'd definitely consider waiting for a white one.
One store was cited to have initially 24 PS4's allocated for preorders, which then increased to 138 systems throughout the week. Currently that location has 66 preorders for the PS4. In contrast with the Xbox One, there's 12 preoders with an allocation of 18.
It's not really that standard. Both the PS4 and Xbox One are using bespoke APUs. While they are x86, nobody has ever made chip exactly like these before. It's not Cell crazy, but they aren't proven designs.
I hope we see some better bundle deals so I can cancel my preorder on Amazon.
Holy crap!
Sony must be reallllllllllllllly confident in their supply lines I guess.
Do you know, or anyone for that matter, whether or not there's an option to get an extended warranty on Amazon? I'm wanting to do this thing, but not without adding that on to ease my mind.
Where is that quote from?
You should be able to get one directly from Sony but it might be pricey. Do they work out though, they usually only last for a year or 2 the most and your system usually craps out right after the warranty period.
Am I the only one who still likes to "hunt" for consoles around launch? Going from store to store asking about shipments and rumors and getting tips for where to look/when to come back? Pre-ordering takes a little bit of the fun out for me.
That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
As I said in another thread. I really fear that many people on Amazon WONT be getting their console on release date, despite their order saying so. Almost seems too good to be true how many allotments they are getting.
They said they would have 15 million by launch....
I think you're wrong because a single game, GT6 or not that is already a Sony game is not going to make that big of a difference. Not enough to really hurt MS. The Sony fans would've bought it anyways, not buy a XB1. The Xbox crowd play Forza otherwise they would have jumped ship long ago. For Sony fans it might sound awesome and it's not a weak move, but certainly not that deceive I think. It would really help Sony sell more at launch instead of a more spread out sales. But most would not go to MS, especially with the Xbox One's past. WWS Would not sell that well in Europe if it's show wrestling.
I read this as two different things, which are probably both true simultaneously since they're not necessarily mutually exclusive.
1) Sony is going to have a metric fuckload of systems available at or near launch, quite possibly an unprecedented rollout in terms of raw numbers.
2) They're deliberately driving up preorders to create a sense of scarcity post-launch. If a ton of people preorder and a lot of them at still waiting for their machines weeks or months after launch, it creates the appearance that the machine is such a hot item it can't even stay on store shelves long enough for everyone to buy it. This is a classic Nintendo move.

If Sony doesn't deliver on this then fuck them seriously. This is a dick thing to do for people who pre-ordered early.

It's #1
If Sony is truly going to overshadow the Xbox One with their PS4 shipments that'd be awesome. You'd be surprised at how many sales are made because a system is not available and a person is sad and wants a system right away.
Saw so much of this on ps3 launch day. People disappointed that they couldn't get their hands on a ps3, ended up buying a 360 instead.
Just give me the date already.
Sony is playing it out EXACTLY like the 360 did last time... I expect the only limitation for PS4 to launch in October at this point is the software. You can have a system ready to roll, but if the software falls behind it won't matter. Infamous already has.
Sony going for the kill.
Announced? or .. Misundestood statement.
16m is bullshit number, There is no way sony can shift 16m ps4 in 3 months,That IF they released it in Oct 1st.
Only thing Sony got wrong was the box design.
Should have called me Sony!

He's saying the only reason he can say that the PS4 won't launch in October is software. If the software is ready, the PS4 theoretically can be launched in October.
So not announced or misunderstood statement, just speculation
