Gamestop: We don't have enough to fill pre-orders!

My friends wife was 2nd in line for the preorders and 7th?!?!? on the list at GS. Shady employees better back the **** up.

Well she just got the call and was confirmed 2nd in line and not 7th :) Wish I hadn't overslept.

That's ****ing BS right there. That's the same rumor I heard earlier when they took pre-orders. First come, first serve for pre-orders? That can't be.

My GS is telling people the same thing (for both PS3 and Wii) so maybe it varies according to the store/manager?

Woah. I feel like an idiot.
I just called my place.

Is there a chance is this JUST GameStop and NOT EB?

EB Guy at RTC said he had no clue.... so...

Sony's going to want as many units as possible to go to Wal Mart and Best Buy. Not just because they have clout, but because they're the most visual. Sony wants all that press with people camped out and massive sell outs within minutes of stores opening.

Yay for random gamers predicting allocations! You sir are a S-M-R-T! (sarcasm to the max)

If your store isn't aware its probably because they dont have live e-mail and won't know til tomorrow morning.

Also stores are to give systems to the first who preordered.. If they do not stand by this a call to Customer Service is needed I would say. Have them call the store and tell them straight.

It may depend on whose on staff tonight, if it's just a "3rd key" then they may not have access to the info. Did you speak to the mgr?

I just called and confirmed that I will be getting one this Friday as well!! I was number 3 on the list but my receipt said #5. Manager said that no employees would be getting one and that mine was assured..thank God. Still going to camp out at Best Buy Wednesday so that I can pay for that Sony Bravia 1080p set though.....

No. I figure when the call does come, I can get more info then.

Seems that way. My store has a nice list of who had what number preorder, which they've assured me will be used when doling out the systems Friday morning.

I'm still showing up a little early though.

I pre-ordered from EB and if you read my previous posts, you'll see that it's corporate-wide cuts (GS AND EB).

So... no one knows if Gamestop is opening Thursday night/Friday morning at 12:00 am? I called a local Gamestop, and the lady was clueless...

If the employees know how to do it they can look up the preorders and can tell by the date/time stamp what place you are in.

Whoaaa, according to my receipt I'm 16th on the list yet they were only taking 11 preorders. That makes 5 employee reserves? ****NUGGETS! Wasn't there a limit?

Voided transactions and opening the register uses transaction numbers.. even making a transaction and cancelling out back to the main screen uses a transaction..

Ok...this is just getting ridiculous. I had previously called my EB where I am 5th or 6th in line. The guy played dumb about slashes in the shipment. So then I got to thinking that maybe this is only affecting GS. So I called my local GS and they did confirm their shipment is getting cut in half and that it also affected EB.

So...armed with this new info...I call my EB back and talk to the same guy as before....now is he is admitting that the shipment is cut in half. I say "so you are getting 8, right?" He says yes. I asked what the 60/20 ratio on those were. He then tells me there are 8 60s and 2 20s.

I was feeling better but I couldn't get the jackhole to confirm that the being 5th in line guarantees you a unit. He gave me that BS about it guarantees me a spot in line but not necessarily in any order. WTF? Why are they being all secretive and downright deceptive over all of this?

What do you mean "place in line" what in the world is that supposed to mean? A pre-order is a pre-order, right? Meaning if my receipt says three and the store gets 8 PS3's, I can pick mine up on Friday, right?

Thats how I thought it worked but that's not how my EB is playing it. On pre-order day my EB gave out a slip of paper that said something to the effect of "a reserve does not guarantee you a system on launch day, just a place in line". I thought the "line" was the line on pre-order day. Apparently "the line" is now the line on Friday, November 17.

Once again..

They are to give out systems in the order in which they were preordered.. The "Line" is the line on this first shipment, not on the day it launches..

If a store is giving you issues regarding this.. Call Customer Service.

I just called and I am getting one. I was #5 in line.

The store getting 10 of the 16 preorders they took. Its a mall in south florida.

I got my call this evening.

I'm still in line to get the console.

But they also offered to schedule an appointment the night before so they could help me get squared away for all the other stuff I want to buy. :lol

It's like they know that they're going to be so ill-equipped to upsell that they're asking you to come in a day early so they can do it while the store is empty.

You know why this is happening? Goddamn Circuit City getting 100 on those midnight stores.

Expect those Best Buy midnight stores to have tons too.. Those companies are putting more into those stores then the normal opening hour ones..

Look back at Best Buy midnight launches for 360.. They put 150-200 in some of those stores.. while you went across town to a store that didnt do a midnight launch and they had like 20-25.

The store near me that DIDN'T do a midnight 360 launch had 80 360s and another had 60. Way more than 20-25.

It's like I've gone back to 2005!

oh crap and you work at EB? Will EB open early or if they open at 10am will they have increase security.

I think i will take my pocket knife.

Normal business hours, I think. And like I said, I'm closing.

They are still shipping the same amount on day one right?
Just not as many to Gamestop?

I really wanted to finally get a console other than something from Nintendo and Sony was a good choice for me but I dunno if I will feel the same come spring 2007.

Walk in and buy is so rare these days

good luck man. Not only will you have to deal with daily traffic but angry fanboys and parents and people calling you curse you out.

I dont want to be you.

I don't want to be me. I wanted to watch Casino Royale for ****'s sake. Now it's looking like we might not have a midnight launch for Wii and I'll have to pick up Zelda sometime around noon

Other little signs of a big problem are around if you look. Last week Costco removed their placeholder/notification page for the PS3. With past launches, the notification page morphed into the product page.

So what are we really getting instead of 400,000? And is Sony willing to do what Microsoft was not (shipping the first few months supply by air freight)?

You guys realize it's Sony who cut their PS3 shipments to GS/EB in half, right? This isn't GS/EB being a bunch of ****tards. Employees who reserved the system cannot purchase on first shipment (correctional/termination will ensue!) and brick and mortar will be fulfilled before online bundles.

This is a shitty situation for everyone involved: the customer, Gamestop/EB, Sony. Everyone loses, but any fingers should be pointed squarely at Sony. Deliver or shut up already. Jesus.
