Gaming-Age recommendations that SUCK!

This can be made into a general recommendations that suck thread, but I want to express my disappointment at Versus.

Holy crap, that is one crap crap film... honestly... it was like a first year, first semester film project from a film class.

That cover that people posted was kinda cool, but I don't think I've seen a more rubbishy movie. I'm not sure how I can express just how much this film sucks... so instead you should go see it and use it as a base reference for just how much sucking there can be in a suck.

Other recommendations made on this forum include Suikoden 3...

after Kitsune's legendary pimpage of this game... I foolishly assumed on the length of his posts and diatribe on the game that the it would have a good amount of merit. I guess it was also due in part to me enjoying S1 and 2 alot... but S3... it just wasn't the Suikoden I had come to enjoy.
 
ive made 2 "recommend me good music" threads and both had a pretty good amount of replies. i didnt like a single song/album listed in either threads.

Ugh, Versus is fucking fantastic. You go make a better action movie for 40K.

Anyone that doesn`t like Versus has a terrible taste and understanding of movies. You propably like shit like The Rock and Con Air.
 
Versus is not, objectively speaking, a good movie, and the plot is stupid as hell, but it's fun.

On the other hand, insisting that anyone who doesn't like it has "terrible taste" strikes me as... questionable.
 
Nah, Versus is just shit.

Fucking corny goofball stuff that's AOK for a 10 minute .wmv that you past to friends for a laugh...

ballbusting for 2 hours though.

I think you guys must have a pretty deluded sense of taste to enjoy the entire thing.

I know I *tried*... but honestly the action was pretty damn weaksauce as well.

Unfortunately I was expecting something like The Returner... which while wasn't the greatest movie, was still enjoyable in its own right.

Hell, if you guys have ever seen a movie called "Naked Weapon" featuring assassin chicks... that movie was much better for a laugh.

OTOH, for 40k it's not a bad try, but still, doesn't make it worth my 2 hours.
 
Versus sucks, yes. =) Also a lot of games that are recomended here suck ass. :( That Mark of Kri or whatever game, total suckage? That MMORPG for PS2 that came out a while ago? Meh. What rocked though was The Incredibles. =)
 
Yeah I bought into the Suiko 3 hype, and boy did that game turn out to be boring. No Suiko 1/2, that's for sure, holding out hope for 4.

Casshern was a landmark in asian action cinema too according to this forum :lol but that goes along with the 20 pages threads about a "groundbreaking" anime that eventually ends up in the saturday morning FOX kids cartoon segment for some reasons :lol :lol

I won't throw this entirely on GA's shoulders, as a handful of friends and acquaintances also made the recommendation, but there were several here who spoke of the greatness of "The Boondock Saints", which consequently ended up being steaming pile of brontosaurus shit.
 
Maybe slightly off the direction of the topic, but I'd say the Gaming Age food recommendations regularly suck.

The lazy-ass "I hate my colon" two-step recipes make me wonder how some of you can get through life with such horrible diets. And when it comes to fast food, soft drinks, and snacks, my personal tastes are usually against the conensus.

Zatoichi movies. Everyone was hyped for the Beat Takeshi one, so I rented some old ones from the library. WHY must almost all Japanese movies feature an hour and a half of the characters sitting and talking about nothing before the plot kicks in? Is it a philosophy thing?

Whatever quirky art/gameplay flash in the pan from Japan has caught the attention of key GAFers

When the anime recommendations threads hail stuff like Beck, Hellsing, Scryed and Chrono Crusade, it should be fairly obvious that these people do not know what they are talking about. :D

And the "action" in Casshern put me to sleep. What a nonsensical movie.
 
The only GAF recommendation that's gone awry was Franz Ferdinand. My love for them fizzled in almost record time.
 
I thought versus was a really fun movie.

Hahaha true, although I do enjoy the Beck anime - doesn't hold a flame to the manga though as is in most cases.

But hey, there's a reason why anime like that are huge. They attract the mainstreamer within and it's not like they (studio) care really towards people that think it's all a load of rubbish.

I LIKE CHampions of Norrath.

I recommend DaVinci Code, but only as mindless entertainment with some interesting historical speculation. The writing is appalling.

Anyhow: My nomination: Punch Drunk Love.

Okay, it's novel to see Adam Sandler act, and he does it reasonably well. But the movie was a waste.

Yes I did.

I like a lot of strange stuff, but as far as I could tell, the only thing to like about that movie was that it WAS strange.

I kept waiting for somethig to grab onto and then, bam, it was over. And I'm sitting there thinking "There were some great ideas for movies in that."
 
Someone doesn't like Yupgi Girl/My Sassy Girl?!?!

I dunno. I thought it was very sweet, and held a lot more meaning than I would have expected.
