I think nine pics is good enough for us to get an idea of what an all-black Micro looks like.

Gorgeous. Nintendo's damn store has the black faceplates on backorder and they won't ship until November. Damn, looks like I am going to be stuck with my silver on black micro for a little while longer.

Anyway, congrats on your swap. Enjoy FE: TSS CVXFREAK.

Nintendo should just SELL this Black on Black combo. Silver on Silver too, for that matter!

NOVEMBER? Fuck. I wanted to buy all of the faceplates I'm missing (silver, ammonite, ladybug.) :(

Good idea. Perhaps I'll update later tonight. PSP + GB Micro BB sexing it up together! :-D

Is the casing actually glossy like that? I thought it was just a solid metallic coating, but that looks almost as nice as PSP. How do the two compare?

Nice, I'm shedding tears over the lack of GBC support, that looks really sexy. I just bought an SP+ and started up DW3 and the screen looks stunning. A bit of ghosting is noticeable, but hardly problematic.

How is the d-pad/buttons on the Micro?

I must say, after going back and playing quite a bit of my GBA library on my Micro, that the d-pad and buttons(including shoulder) are easily among the best for playing GBA games. Tactile and responsive with plenty of room.

GB Micro D-Pad is up there with the DS, IMHO. Perhaps a bit better.

As for the PSP-like sheen, that's mostly a trick of the light. The black faceplate is certainly glossy (and not metallic, since it is, of course, a plastic plate), but not like the PSP.

Thanks for pictures.

1. Am i the only one that thinks that FULL BLACK > FAMICOM VERSION?

Famicom is nice and is more a "collector item" but i think black is more "polite", stylish and less "easy to be seen" when you bring it with you.
Moreover i don't think we (not Japanese) have a strong culture of what Famicom was.
I'd like to have a Super Famicom verison but i can bet it could look ugly (as the GBSP NES version)

2. Is Japan, do they sell the FULL BLACK version?
I think the mixed version (body color A + faceplate color B) looks like shit. :(

3. I'd like to see it in WHITE color, too.

Please post bigger picture mate! ;)

No problem. And hell no, all black > *

What do you mean by "full black"?

I don't think my webcam can take bigger pics, sadly.

Nice Mejilan!

To think, I used to own that. :D

Japan does indeed sell solid, no swapped colors. Blue, Black, Silver, Purple, Famicom. The YU.S. does get the better deal when it comes to pricing, though. I want Silver, but would also like blue... and black after seeing this thread. :)

Just to let people know again, Micro is now $99 in Canada. I'm not sure if there was a price drop in the US though.

I got mine two weeks ago and I went to EB today and got a $35 refund. No store credit crap.

Looks nice, but it's still $100 down the drain. I honestly can't understand why anybody would buy this over the superior SP2. Somebody explain this to me, and not somebody who's a Nintendo whore or a Gameboy collector please.

Just for fun. Afterburner vs. DS vs. SP+

Ah the Afterburner. Bought one and never had the balls to install it. It's funny to recall how much the original GBA's screen sucked.

SP2's dpad sucks. GB Micro has better GBA playback too. I have an SP2 as well, but it'll be saved primarily for the GB and GBC support.

Every time I see a comparison with Micro/SP/SP+ I keep thinking the same thing.

*only buy one*

:(

Oh man I want a Micro and Puzzle League, but I want to get a digicam, guitar, mp3 player and laptop first, haha. Maybe I should go in order of cost?

Holy shit. I pretty much have no use for this, but I want it in a serious way. I should just hunt down all the GBA Castlevanias after I finish DoC just as an excuse to use it.

I wonder if this will be the last GBA version will see?....

I thought the SP would have been.

Iv got a DS and an SP , no need for one of these, doesnt mean i dont want one tho :(

Well, with the SP2 you still have to spend an extra $10 for headphone support. Basically makes the Micro and SP2 only a $10 difference. Also the Micro is small, it's actually a portable. I can fit the Micro in my pocket with room to spare. It's not bulky. I keep taking the damn Micro out with me wherever I go, no matter what I'm going out for. It really is a portable.

Somehow... I doubt it.

There's just this nagging feeling in my gut that there's still another GBA in the works. Or there was when the micro came out in Japan.

And then the SP+ popped up on us. :P

Its a good move for the Gameboy brand as it makes the PSP (and DS) look enormous.

Ditto. Sweet Deal. 99 CDN is what i wanted it for and now I have that. 129 is fucking rediculous.

Should be 99 Canada and 79 US from the start.

Is this 99 price in Canada only a temp promotion or permanent? I guess it didnt launch well...

Fully black: i don't know what is the right way to call it.
Maybe solid black.
I've seen there are 2 different version. One is japanese and one is american.

In japanese version everything is black, both faceplate and body.
While american version messed it up: faceplate is grey and body is black or viceversa. I don't get why. The so called "mixed version" sucks. :(

Understood. My unit is fully US (faceplate and system casing), but to do it, I had to swap with CVXFreak. I kept the black faceplate that came with my silver unit, he kept the silver faceplate that came with my black unit, and we swapped systems. So he wound up with a fully silver gb micro, I with the fully black.

Hot shit.

I won't be home until Wednesday, so I won't be able to provide pics until then. Perhaps I'll post pics of the GBM sodomizing the PSP or something. :)

Black Micro --> sexy
Famicom Micro --> supersexy

But don't make me jealous...Damn I don't really need a Micro DO I DO I DO I ?
