People that don't like xbox or already don't like the series SHOULDN'T be assigned to review the game. That stands for any game in my opinion. "well, normally I think SHMUPS are lame and crappy games, but this one is ok so i'll be generous and give it a 7" When everyone else is giving it 8's and 9's.

Anything 10/10 isn't realistic, but at the same time anything 3/5 or 7/10 just sticks out as click bait trash.

Those ratings are weird for Gears (spot on for Halo though unfortunately). I've played the hell out of every entry since 2 (never played multiplayer for 1), and each has been a solid improvement over the one prior in every way.

I can't believe a publication gave this a 10/10. That's not a knock against Gears 5, which I haven't played--it's just that there's no possible way it can be 10/10. That's 100% good. The absolute pinnacle of video games. Four-decades-of -video-games-have-brought-us-to-this-moment type of shit. The best video game of all time.

Really? How many 10/10s did RDR2 get and at least to me and many others it had many annoying quirks, was boring as hell and had horrible controls & gameplay.

I haven't played it yet either, but I have a strong suspicion Gears 5 will be much closer to a 10/10 than RDR2 was for me.

Famn, RDR2 raised the bar for videogame development in a lot of ways. It set a new benchmark for several aspects, but unfortunately, gameplay and mission design was not one of them.

Don't just assume people who don't love it don't like the series, or xbox. That's ridiculous. And honestly, I've never seen a single member of the press who gives a crap about console wars.

I gave Gears 1 0/10, but found Gears 5 to be incredibly disappointing and dull. Save for the last hours though, they were pretty spectacular.

I'm comparing this to the near auto 90+ Sony and Nintendo get for their first party games.
And Microsoft got those too a long time ago.

The game does not score much better than Gears 4, yet it a LOT better.
