SNES

Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Time (2 player!!)
Lufia 2
FF6
Zelda ALTTP
Super Starwars

Thanks for the input guys.
Demi: I just realise I have no idea what that is. A google search on its file name yields nothing so tell me please. I was real light on gaming back in them days.

SNES:

Contra III
Top Gear
TMNT IV
E.V.O.
Kirby's Dream Course (I could never figure it out, but it seemed like fun)
Road Runner's Death Valley Rally
Zombies Ate My Neighbors

That don't have PS1, GBA or other versions, and that can still be amusing nowadays...

Earthbound. Actraiser. Lufia 2. Legend of the Mystic Ninja.

For the Genesis there's:

Subterrania
Ecco the Dolphin
Ecco: The Tides of Time
Landstalker
anything beginning with "Shining"

Everything else on the Genny has been or will be emulated or remade on a current console, hasn't aged well, or wasn't good to begin with.

Super NES:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island
The Lost Vikings
Tetris & Dr. Mario (why hasn't anyone made a decent console Tetris since this?)
Soul Blazer
Illusion of Gaia
Kirby's Dream Land 3

Same thing about the Genesis applies to the Super NES. Some games aren't as good as they used to be.

Man Actraiser was such a great game. I loved hanging around the towns as long as I could, casting lightning on all the crappy houses so new villagers would come along and build the most advanced buildings in their place. :D Great music too.

To throw in a few that haven't been mentioned...

General Choas for the Genesis is a great game.

Secret of Evermore or Secret of Mana are both great for the SNES as well.

i'm sure its been mentioned before, and i'm beginning to sound like a broken record, BUT

TETRIS ATTACK
tetris attack
tetris attack

that's all i have to say

or better yet, get nintendo puzle collection for cube - its effectively the SNES panel de pon/TA but with 4 players

Tetris Attack is, like, the best game ever, but I think it'd be easier just to grab Pokemon Puzzle League or one of the ten dozen other reincarnations it's had.

Genny: Mega Turrican, Subterranea, Mutant League Hockey/Football, Road Rash 3, Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, GUNSTAR HEROES!!!, Columns II. Of course there's loads more.

Yes indeed, Sunset Riders is an excellent game. I never played it on the home consoles but the arcade version was great. The horseback segments were great, even though those game me more trouble than anything, and those damn pitchforks drove me crazy.

Here's a rare game that kicked ass:

King_Arthurs_World_SNES_ScreenShot2.jpg

Kind Arthur's World (SNES)

It's a puzzle type game. Sort lemmingesque with a twist and more strategy. Great game IMO.

I also second:

actraiser-4.jpg

Actraiser (SNES)

"Love" doesn't even begin to describe my feelings for this gem.

Must plays:

Gunstar Heroes
Rocket Knight Adventures

Also worth considering:
Ecco
Vectorman
Earthworm Jim
