Your avatar just makes me mad that insightful people who contributed to the intellectual evolution of humanity like Carlin are gone, yet we still have unevolved mental midgets like Ray Comfort still breathing precious oxygen.

My favorite comic of all time. I've had people come check on me while watching his HBO specials because I was laughing far too loud for a person who's alone.

I had always wanted to meet him, too. :'(

Awesome guy, this fucking sucks. Why do all the good people keep getting taken away from us young?

Anyway, I hate to say this, but I don't own a single one of his albums. What's his definitive album?

My sister IMed me the bad news, and I said out loud "aw, fuck! Noooo!"

Just awful. He was still great, grisly, cynical and sharp -- and that's what hurts. That he had more to give us. Everything he did starting with "Jammin' in New York" in the early 90s was so golden, in that "so true and so plain you can't deny the stunning truth of it all" way. Like the best Bill Hicks bits, only Carlin could sustain it for a whole show.

Thank you for illuminating my young mind and for making me laugh til I cried, you mean old fuck. Love you.

I can't believe he's gone so soon. :(

Rest in peace you brilliant number 6.

Cosby's still around.... not too funny these days though.
Don't forget Dick Van Dyke. The man was a comedic genius back in the day. I'm actually surprised it's so healthy for his age. It'll be a sad day when he goes.

Damn...well... there's your "three"...

Korman
Russert
Carlin.

I can't believe he's gone...... color me shocked. RIP George, you were one of the greatest of all time.

i've spent the last 2 hours freaking out because i just saw pics of my of-late ex-gf (last and most final break was just 3 days ago) with another guy on facebook.

this puts things in perspective, don't it. carlin would have smacked me upside the head if i had tried complaining to him about this, i'd like to think. :)

My wife hit me with the news when I woke up this morning. I was like, "WTF!" Just yesterday my son was watching Tarzan 2 and I recognized Carlin's voice and thought, "He must need the money." The world is a little less funny without people like him around.

Damn it all. As we enter into perhaps one of our worst times in the history of the world we've lost one of the voices of reason for any of us powerless schmucks stuck along for the ride. Truly one of the best comedians and cynics of all time.

I can only imagine the level of meltdown that would be taking place on Maher's show right now if it wasn't on break until late August....he's going to snap.

RIP. The man was brilliant.

I believe Cosby is still funny he just has a different agenda at this stage in the game. I remember Cosby did a great stand up act maybe 4 years ago or so?

Not happy he's gone, but I never understood why everyone liked him so much.

A lot of different things appeal to different groups of people for different reasons. But overall he was a larger than life personality who gave a popular voice to counterculture.

It's kind of like Bill Hicks but on a much larger scale. (don't feel bad if you don't know who that is)

At my school, I work for the radio station, and it was always a joy hearing what the seven words you can't say on air were.

Like everyone has been saying, the man was hilarious and a genius.

R.I.P. Rufus :(

I know he was. Not a huge fan of him either.
