George R R Martin developing multiple sequel projects to A Game of Thrones for HBO

In my dreams GRRM would have a car accident during a snow storm, then get rescued by his biggest fan and after his recovery he won't be able to return home but will be forced to finish "Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring". If he doesn't cooperate, he will lose all access to live American Football broadcasts. Or he'd be hobbled. Whatever scares him most. Just force that fat fuck to finish the damn books.

Disappointing to see the show story continue while Winds continues to go unfinished.

Edit: I understand you can't force creativity and sometimes you're hit with inspiration and that produces good writing and other times you just aren't feeling producing certain material but the wait for Winds is getting crazy.

Ah, yes. G. R. R. Martin. Writer of lines like these:

He was always more interested in writing for television than he was in writing books. Guess he just couldn't resist following his dreams when he got a big break.
Fame killed his ability to finish. And I get it I bet he is have way more fun.
Nice. As someone who doesn't read fiction I love it lol
I don't mind this, but his name is so big at this point that HBO should let him make a different fantasy property. It is extremely odd building a cinematic universe around a show that ended in a wet fart.

HBO should have just purchased the rights to an Elden Ring tv show.

Every new GRRM project based on A Game of Thrones is a raised middle finger to his most loyal, most patient longtime fans. I read the first book of the series months before it was first published, I got the UK ARC (Advance Reader Copy) early for a book review and I absolutely loved that book. I think that particular edition must be very rare, I could only find one image of it on Google Images.

My 1st print US HC of "A Game of Thrones" is still unread and pristine for that reason. It's been almost 30 years since I read the first book in the series and I'm getting really tired of GRRM's endless procrastination. I of course realize that GRRM will never finish the series, but it's still galling to hear about other projects he's working on when he could have worked on ADwD instead.

He'll probably finish 'The Winds of Winter' since he's mentioned being over 1,000 pages in 2023.

AI George R. R. Martin will finish 'A Dream of Spring.' by blending the show, the books, and some bullet points he's hastily sketched out somewhere.

We've had progress reports for years. None of it matters because we don't know how much of what he's written is finalized.

A normal person you would give the benefit of the doubt on a figure like that, but it's been 15 years. George has long since run out of rope. The story's not real until it's with the publisher.

Lol. Dance is easily the weakest book, but to be fair his writing has always been inconsistent. You get some amazing, epic, beautiful passages, but then get some bizarre stuff that reads like it was dreamed up by a teenager.

What George R.R. Martin suffers from is what every single modern person on this planet is suffering from as well.

Our focus is divided.

Just this morning I had my pre-workout drink with caffeine/supplements to get my kettlebell swings in. I freakin ended up making a watchlist on letterboxd while I listened to a youtube video audio playing in another tab.

If there's one thing that's helping me a bit is the POMODORO technique. 25 minute timer counts down as you FOCUS ON ONE TASK AT HAND. Timer dings....5 minute break. Rinse and repeat for as much as you like.

I suggest Martin's wife should get him one this Christmas. Write for 25 minutes every day George. That's it!

There's needs to be an intervention with the people at HBO (and any other studio) to stop giving GRRM money entirely until he finishes the OG novels.

It kinda makes sense though. It's been obvious for a while now that GRRM will never finish ASOIAF. Even WoW is doubtful. I think HBO is doing the sensible thing at this point and trying to squeeze out as much as they can out of the guy before he croaks.

Ideally he should've finished the series when GoT was airing like he told Weiss and Benoiff. But that ship has sailed. Might as well milk the series for what it's worth at this point.

Was the Dance with the Dragons successful? I think they don't realize that ship is slowly sailing away.

Also, fuck him for not finishing the novels, at this point it really is a F U to fans.

Sales wise, yes. Quality wise, no. It's a bloated mess and easily the weakest book in the series.

Agreed. Legally he's not obliged to finish it, but after all the broken promises it is a massive middle finger to the book fans that made him a success.

The sad thing is, he hasn't even started work on the final book yet. There is no way he is finishing this series.

At this point, it's clear that this guy is just messing with fans. He has no intention of finishing a song of ice and fire.
What a fucking joker.

This means nothing with Gurm. He's well known for scrapping entire chapters / arcs and starting over if he doesn't like something. Or he'll have a really good idea for one character which means he has to go back and change a bunch of stuff for another related character to make it work. His updates are largely useless. In 2015, Gurm thought he'd be finished with TWOW ... THE FOLLOWING YEAR!

I meant the series. I got the impression it just came and went, definitely not at the cultural level as the original series. Now they want to do sequels, prequels, etc., I don't think the audience is still there.

Oh, you mean Fire & Blood. First season was decent, then the second season came and the quality took a hit. You're absolutely correct that it didn't come close to being a cultural smash hit like GoT

As well as Fire & Blood, you have A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms dropping early next year, now all these other shows (I doubt all of them will make production).

I think HBO is just desperate to get another GoT on its hands, but as you said, it don't think the audience is there. I'd rather they focus on non GOT shows. This is the studio that brought us classics like The Sopranos, Band of Brothers and Rome. Go back to making shows like that. Leave George alone so he can finish up the books.
