I had Bittornado working perfectly with NIS before my PC crashed. Now I've put in a new HD and reinstalled windows withSP@, and I can't get Bittornado to work properly.

I've got Bittornado set up to use ports 10000-10005, and in the Windows Firewall, I've got both bittornado and TCP ports 10000-10005 listed as exceptions.

Still, it's not worknig with my firewall on :(

You must forward your ports if you're using a router. Also, do a search for BitTorrent speed and you'll find tons of tips for things to optimize.

Sorry guys, I didn't make myself clear enough.

I'm on a router, and I've got all my ports forwared perfectly fine in the router. Before this PC crashed, I had Norton Internet Security on this machine, which has a software firewall included. I had BitTornado set up to be used on all ports, and I was getting green all the time.

On my new set up with the SP2 firewall, I've got BitTornado on my exception list, and I've got all the ports it uses on my exception list.

If I've the SP2 firewall turned on, I cannot get a green status. If I turn it off while I use BitTornado, I get a green immedietly.

There's definitely something in the SP2 firewall that's screwing up my BitTornado. Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

Couldn't tell ya. I use Bitcomet myself-never had any problems with either SP2 or Norton. Before that, I was using ABC.

I used to double firewall (software + hardware) but I found it was a little redundant with a good router. Less lost bandwidth, better compatibility & more cpu cycles for more important things. Now if your PC is blocked with higher sensitive stuff you could never bare losing, then yeah.. it's a good idea to have more control over your application bandwidth.

I like having a software firewall, because I like to be able to know exactly what programs are trying to access the internet, and I like having the ability to block their access by the click of a button.
