Comparison thread that is.. not a win for ps5

Not sure but there is no excuse for the PS5 to run this game at 45% of XSX resolution in resolution mode.

Maybe that's the first signs of the power delta being revealed?

Or it could just be a bad port.

I really would like to know whats going on though because if this becomes the standard going forward I might get an XSX instead of a PS5.

Yes, you're right. A 17% power delta is finally unmasked by a last gen game that runs at over 200% of the resolution.

This is BC from PS4 version lol. It's sad watching the green team desperately trying to catch a win... any win.

Sometimes it's better to move on. This will be a long and rough generation for some.

I've noticed you keep talking about power deltas and I've seen you toss around 50% better performance on the XSX. It's supposed to only be Xbox fans and MS talking about massive improvement in performance over the PS5.

Looking at the specs the only spec with a massive difference is the PS5's SSD. Have you seen seen a 100% faster loading to match the spec? If not why would you expect to see a 18% difference in compute performance?

Why would it simply result in faster load times, though? The main gains for most games would be asset streaming, I would assume. Sure, seeing a shorter load time is also neat but I'd rather games have less texture pop-in and shit, can't wait for the next-gen showdown on Cyberpunk, for instance.

Apparently the additional CUs need extra work to take full advantage of. Maybe these developers found a way to make use of the XSXs compute advantage?

If true this would be the biggest difference in performance that I've seen. But then again there's always the possibility that it's just BC on the PS5 or it's just a bad port.

Don't see why it's wrong to try and think about all the possibilities. It's the reason why these types of threads exist.

Both XsX and PS5 run in 1080p/60 according to Ubisoft. No reason they couldn't unlock the resolution mode framerates in this bc title.

Still good tho, framerate is king.

This is a PS4/xb1 game. I know, I'm playing it.

With 100% faster speeds faster loading should be the obvious benefit. XSX should never load faster being that much slower. Especially if we are making a big deal about two teraflops.

I never said anything was 'wrong' only that is confusing to see the gloating about the Xbox not dominating performance metrics with an 18% compute advantage but silence when the PS5 doesn't load games 100% faster with its 100% faster SSD. Seems like a double standard.

We've had this discussion before, on a BC game the SSD isn't truly being utilized and we found that since the games loaded faster on One X than PS4 Pro that in general the PS5 BC solution actually reduces load times by more than XSX is, the thing is XSX still beats it because it starts from a lesser target.

Well that's if you to take the paper specifications to heart. Both manufacturers are going to give us the best numbers that they can. That doesn't mean that is the real world performance though.

Like those two teraflops that you mention. That figure is calculated with the difference between the two theoretical maximums of each systems TF amount. The real world performance will always be lower than that because theoretical maximums are impossible to obtain outside of extremely controlled conditions. Alot of next gen comparisons don't show a 2TF difference between the two for example.

It is interesting to see any advantage one side has dismissed while other advantages are played up and celebrated. 100% faster is still the biggest advantage between the two systems it should never lose.

The 2 TF advantage is still much smaller than the 100% faster SSD advantage. All games that are shared between both systems should load twice as fast on PS5. BC is not an excuse.

When it comes to the PS5s SSD some games do load insanely quickly on it. Like Spiderman and Demon Souls for example. Now what amount of data is going through those couple seconds in those games?

I really don't have the answer to that.

Third party titles do seem to load alot slower on the PS5 though. No idea why that's happening though. But with that said there does seem to be an advantage with the PS5 I/O because it's pretty common in multiplat titles. However the same can't be said about that XSX GPU advantage since that 18%-50% delta hasnt really been seen yet nor is it consistent.

I personally believe that each system is performing below what their paper specifications indicate. There's more to an I/O than just raw speed just like there's more to a systems performance than teraflops.

And the XSX shouldn't be on par with the PS5 it should be ahead of it in all games.

Like I said paper specifications don't indicate everything. Both systems are not matching them.

I agree and MS is being taken to task for its performance by the Sony fans here. They are pretty silent on the PS5 loading though. Especially when the XSX is the faster loading system. That shouldn't happen.

What aren't you getting my friend? BC games don't utilize the specialized SSD tech because they're not designed to. You see faster load times on PS5 on all next-gen games, why don't you on BC games? If your thought process only goes so far as "because SONY bad" it becomes clear you're not in this for an honest talk.

You might as well tell people you don't know what you're talking about, because that's basically what you're telling people right now.

You can put a fast SSD inside of an Xbox one X and PS4 and you will see only small improvements over a standard HDD.

Because the SSD isn't the only part of the I/O. And that's where BC becomes a problem for the PS5.

Rest assured if that SSD in the PS4 is twice as fast as the Xbox the PS4 will load faster.

If people were having an 'honest conversation' the 2 TF advantage and 100% SSD speed advantage would be taken in the same light. I actually own a PS5 and XSX there is no 'Sony bad' here I'm just able to look objectively at these issues since I am not emotionally opposed to any of these companies.

It depends on the developers and what they take advantage of. You also ignored my argument about the SSD being there for things like streaming assets and not just shorter load times.

Unless the bottleneck isn't the ssd speed

I read that the Xbox is the only platform with 'bottlenecks' that should be another factor that should make PS5 games load that much faster.

Do you have an example of a game running on PS5 that might have loaded slower but had better asset streaming?

What? I'm not sure you understand these arguments. Asset streaming doesn't hamper load times, asset streaming occurs during gameplay.

CPU becomes a big factor in BC games, which Xbox consoles have the advantage in BC mode. All of this include better BC functionality on the Xbox.

I don't know why you Xbox fanboys love to stay misinformed.

By this logic, Colt, Dealer and TimDog aren't fanboys. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It doesn't work that way.
Well you are the one making the Sony fan claimed 'insignificant speed advantage' of the Xbox CPU gives it some sort of advantage in BC. Maybe fanboys of all types should not speak on things they don't know.

I'm speaking based on things tech experts of the gaming community have commented on. You're going based off of your own opinions.
