Yes, I know that this has been covered in the Steam Community thread, but I thought it was thread worthy. So here goes.

Also, coming up early this year we will be announcing another JRPG for Steam as well as the Japanese action game that we’ve been talking about in recent weeks. We’ve had a lot of requests to bring this particular title to Steam so I’m sure that a lot of you will be happy to hear about its upcoming Steam release.

Beyond that, we’re also deep in negotiations for quite a few new Japanese titles, primarily to port to PC, and while at this point it’s too early to disclose any details, let me just say that there are quite a few games among them that are really exciting me! Not only are we looking at a few games from a Japanese developer that I’ve been wanting to work with for a long time, but I’ve also been evaluating a Japanese game which - as far as I’m aware - hasn’t even been announced for Japan yet. Exciting!

Thank you, once again, for your support throughout 2015. I hope you all have a great 2016.

It's time to speculate! I'll gift a copy of that highly requested action game to whoever that manages to guess the correct title, once it is revealed and becomes available on Steam. Unless you are BorntoPlay.

.

Give me more Mugen Souls if old.

The actin game could be Oneechanbara
Personally I want Shadows of the Damned, L. Chainsaw or El Shaddai :X

Aaaaawh shiiiiiiiet >< Don't tease me like this Ghostlight. I won't be able to take it anymore after Mugen Souls disappointement ><
Now it's either El Shaddai, No More Heroes or Nier. Yup, that's my expectations. Or maybe Earth Defense Force.

El Shaddai on PC would be a fantastic opportunity to give the franchise a second shot at life, especially now that the original dev team re-obtained the rights to the franchise and could theoretically make a sequel with enough popularity. It was THIS close to being a good game, but is still an interesting experience nonetheless.

If it's not a Platinum Games title, how can it be a "highly requested" action game? The only highly requested action games for Steam are literally just those.

As a result of that, I can't even guess.

Not to mention that Sega owns those IP, so it seems unlikely that Ghostlight would publish them on PC.

Yes, also that. Unless Sega outsourced the ports to a bunch of contractors. This has happened before, actually the majority of their ports were handled by smaller external teams as far as I am aware. As for Platinum, I believe that they outright stated that all development (porting work or something else entirely) will be handled by them after the Bayonetta debacle.

I'm going to guess Earth Defense Force 4.1 because of that SteamDB leak. That thing's been delivering. But yeah, I can see Way of the Samurai 3, too.

OTOGI? METAL WOLF CHAOS?
That would Microsoft or From Software.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem. Platinum Games are pretty much the only highly demanded Japanese action games, then you get a steep drop down to anime license titles and other stuff that really doesn't come immediately to mind.

Not necessarily. That mysterious group of people who seem to form a new company yearly just to create a new PC port and close up shop again can only work on so many ports at the same time.

This almost certainly isn't Sega related though. Onechanbara (apparently the newest one is actually a decent action game?) and El Shaddai seem like the safest bets.

i would buy it if some variables like enemy hp or damage could be modded--it was just too much of a slog.

Exactly. It's going to be something somewhat niche, or something than when it's announced I'll be like "oh, that game!"

I have a feeling it'll be both.

I like how these threads always end up, first few pages are hype and then the letdown is fast and without mercy as they announce something from Compile Heart's D-list. Some of you guys are thinking way too big and are ripe for the letdown :P.

I hope they manage to port the next game faster than they did WotS4, it was delayed like 3 times then went silent even after passing their supposed expected timeline.

The last time I was teased by Ghostlight, they ended up bringing Mugen Souls to Steam.

I don't know if I can trust this to be a good game this time.

I guess it's easier for them to port something for PC then to localize something new themselves.
They did both things slightly over an year ago, localizing something new and bringing it to PC (though in this they didn't bring the original version to the west, a PSP game).

Anyway, from their blog post, they're looking into new stuff as well.

What games do they actually have?

What makes people think it's No More Heroes, Nier, or El Shaddai? I'd like to have all those games on PC, but I don't recall what connection they had to Ghostlight.

Ghostlight doesn't have a connection to anything, they don't own IP, they are a localization/porting house.
