I have a 670 too. That card is definitely beginning to struggle unless you live your life as a 1080p peasant. Bring on the 800 series.

That Dan Ryckert is so dumb, how could he not know about Africe in World War 2? He should have played more Call of Duty 2, then he wouldn't have embarassed himself today. Hope Jeff fires him immediately.

IT'S WORLD WAR TWO

COME ON

I'll admit I didn't know for sure if there was any major campaigns in Africa during WWII. It makes perfect sense when I think about it but I didn't know off the top of my head. The focus is squarely on Europe / a little bit of the Pacific theatre with regards to WWII in popular culture.

I'm not proud of not knowing, but being someone who's main source of knowledge on WWII is movies, popular culture, and history classes I took in school Africa is barely ever mentioned. I remember learning about WWII in middle school, the class was almost entirely focused on the Holocaust and the general Who, What, When, Why, How of WWII. I'm sure they mentioned a bit about Africa but it would have been in passing. In University I took one Canadian History course which covered a bit of WWII from Canada's perspective if Africa was mentioned then it was in passing as well, I also took a Holocaust course and understandably it wasn't mentioned.

Again, I'm the ignorant party here. I just don't like the idea that it's ridiculous for someone not to know that there were battles in Africa in WWII.

I like Dan, even though he seems like another stereotypical American (loves wrestling, hates soccer, doesn't know history)

Regardless of who's right, discussions on required vs. facultative knowledge never go anywhere productive. Let's drop it, shall we?

I'd like to see brad and friends actually try league and maybe make a video series out of it. It would inevitably lead to brad shitting on it for its "simplicity" I'm sure, but it might make an interesting video. This is coming from a big lol fan though so I'm probably overestimating how interesting it would actually be.

Watching the Sniper Elite quick look right now and I'm already loving the Jeff/Dan QL combo. Also loved Drew having to pipe in when they were talking about WW2 in Africa. :lol

With Brad getting into fitness stuff it'd be cool to see he, Drew and Rorie do a fitness podcast. I'd definitely listen to it on my runs. Considering the topic it may be a pretty dry podcast, but i'm sure they'd find a way to make it interesting.

Edit: The more i think on it the worse the idea seems.

That would be really cool.

In somewhat related news, can't recommend Valiant Hearts enough... excellent writing, beautiful art, some history thrown in... dog. Just an all around great game set during World War I.

^ Can't believe some of the things people are saying in this thread tbh. It's fucking World War 2. Come on. Quick Look was fine though, but I'll be honest, Dan's definitely starting off on the wrong foot for me here, giving off a stereotypical "ignorant American who doesnt know anything about the rest of the world" vibe.

Oddly, I was more disappointed by the 'shoot the dynamite in mid air' comment. Yes that would ordinarily be awesome, but clearly sniper elite is not that kind of game. Yes, even allowing for exploding X-Ray testicles.

how did i miss this game

Really, DMoMM is an awesome game. You can do so much more than just that (even though ths is still pretty cool). And the three playstyles (magic, sword and stealt) all feel pretty rewarding and....good. They feel just good. Story is a bit eh, but whatever you can shrink an Ork and step on him, what more do you want?

Um why do people think Dan is not a history expert? He even knew that Teddy Roosevelt is the one that first coined the phrase "aaah I'm inside of you". I'm curious how many of you so called "history experts" knew that

So Dan has Vinny's laugh and Patricks' slap-on-knee-when-laughing quirk...

Is Dan just the Perfect Cell of Giant Bomb - a perfected collection of all the other duders' traits? Vinny would know what I'm talking about... VINNY!!

I was about to ask if Dark Messiah holds up, too. I always meant to play it but never did for some reason.

It's a great game.

I like it more than the Half-Life games; it feels, to me, like a game that really understood how to make an immersive first-person game on the Source engine.

play your fucking class!

He's sort of like the Serpentor of Giant Bomb.

Silly trivia you'd find on a snapple bottlecap versus knowledge of a massive, multi year long campaign.

As something of a self-proclaimed connoisseur of bad western RPGs (the more janky and dumb the better - yes I'm that guy that got all 1,000 gamerscore in Two Worlds) it's my biggest regret that I've never played DMoMM. I think I'm going to rectify this.

Consider me another one in the camp of 'I didn't know Africa was involved in WWII''
but on my defence, I hated history in School and don't have any knowledge on many historical happenings.

You'll be disappointed, it plays very well. I can't think of a game that has better first person melee combat
