Giant Bomb E3 2012

Ryan you are silly, obviously if something comes with the system it's more likely to be used. Also it has analog sticks and buttons.

What did he say? I stepped out.

Basically Microsoft is more focused on music, video, Bing, etc. because of the money to be made there and can't fill a conference with only games because largely their focus has shifted.

Also "Smart Glass gives Microsoft the opportunity to drink Nintendo's milkshake" Yeah we'll see about that.

Their focus has shifted at the moment. I think it's unfair to say that their focus has totally shifted, once the 720 is announced I have faith that they're going to be dropping bombs like nobody's business.

MS is all about getting Xboxes into peoples' homes any way they can right now, because all the people who play games more or less already have one. That's partly why we got almost zero new IPs there. It's all about appeasing your current base while expanding it in other ways.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, btw.

Chris and Justin went to Vox Games, which is The Verge's gaming site. But that was months ago and I haven't heard a thing about them, so I wonder if that fell apart or something before it even launched.

It's very much alive and they are still hiring. The new name is Polygon and they're launching later this year. Their podcast is produced by Justin but it doesn't have the magic of the old Joystiq Podcast.

Apple is going to let an age old competitor distribute an app that enables their customers to view competing content? Really? Really?!

Smart Glass seems like glorified Air Play.
And they allow Google and Microsoft apps already. Steam app lets u buy games. They only restrict apps that replicate apple apps and stores that sell content u can use on the iphone in the app. eBook stores etc.

Smart Glass is not gonna even be close to what he is expecting. Its for fluff crap not playing the actual games.

Yeah the Kindle Fire Twitch app isn't stuttering. I assume it is because it is taking the 720p stream (which is stuttering) and by the time it is converting that out to a "mobile version" it is avoiding the stutter.

I don't know, I guess I'll believe it when I see. For now, in my head, this is a windows phone/tablet app.

Yeah, I'm not saying Microsoft has completely lost focus. Hell, I thought Halo 4 looked amazing. It just doesn't make for a good conference.

Agree. I thought smart glass was really neat, NHL gamecenter will be great for me, and I'm obviously a huge halo fan, but the rest of that conference seemed...empty.

Phil Spencer was on GTTV before the conference and went over the summer of arcade lineup, it looks EXCELLENT. No idea why they didn't cover that in the conference.

Someone in the chat raised a good point: devs should let games speak for themselves, because that's why Watch Dogs worked so well. Nobody knew what the hell it was going in, and more and more layers became apparent as it went on, before it was revealed that POW, you play as many different characters!

I watched that same thing, and I thought it was strange that he was mentioning it BEFORE the conference. Could have spent some time on that.

God dammit. This total fool. Why do they keep giving him credit for all of the nothing he's done?

Pachter outta nowhere!

Also, totally unrelated, but Astro announced a new gaming headset?! why has no one covered this! Love my A40s, hate the wires.

Edit: GAF shoutout.
