Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

They explained that, if they wanted to just post a bunch of trailers they could have just hosted a ton of videos and don't need a press conference to do that. A press conference should have more information instead of just trailers.

and this is how that usually works out:

Wanting PR speak is weird.
I think it's pretty understandable when you're introducing a new control scheme. I can see their point about how some of that stuff would have been more interesting if there was some visual aspect showing what was happening in reality to show how that transfers to what is happening on the screen.

I feel like asking for full games in VR at this point is kind of crazy. I can't think of any other full VR game than RE 7, publishers aren't going to make full expensive games until things launch and prove themselves.

Curious what Sucker Punch is doing then if not spiderman.

I like the conference, have not watch microsoft yet, will watch that vod later tonight.

I think part of the somewhat negative reaction to Sony's conference can be attributed to the ending; it felt really flat and anticlimactic to me. If they would have ended with a bigger bang, it would have made a better overall impression.

I'm with you. If it had a crazy "one more thing" after that Days Gone demo, it would have left a better taste. That whole thing landed super flat. Who thought that would be a great demo and a great way to close out the show? Couldn't be more boilerplate.

I thought it was a really good conference; they seemed to as well, until it ended. They're kind of bumming me out.

Especially saying there should have been more PR talk. What is even happening?

Games looked good, but it was a odd press conference. No filler is always good but it felt like a trailer show. The personalities your used to seeing (boyes, shu) not being there was odd...and that crash misdirection, ugh.

Also: Good on Sony and Ubisoft for acknowledging what happened in Orlando. Kudos to that.

Every game in the Sony conference also felt VERY self serious tonally (minus the crash thing I guess).

Tonally, Days Gone and the beginning of Son of Kratos could have been Last of Us.

They're launching the god damned thing. If they want people to pay for it, they should have things for people to play.

If they're selling a headset, I'd like more than just glorified demos. RE7 I a good thing, but some of the 'experiences' turned me off.

I also think it's going to be a way bigger deal to casual console players that Sony didn't talk about hardware at all after MS announced a slim console and a next gen console for next year. Seems like a major gap between conferences.

That made me pretty certain I'm getting a PS4, but it wasn't any of the new stuff that did it, except for the spiderman game. It was honestly just Horizon and Last Guardian that made me go "okay...I think I need one of these"

The VR demos would have been 2010 Kinect level shit. Maybe it helps I have no expectations for VR and Playstation VR. GB seemed to have hope that this would be something.

Tbh nothing that Sony showed looked amazing or stood out.

That joy pills game that they showed on Microsoft's conference is probably the best thing so far.

I think people are just hyped up because what Sony showed for the most part are experiences you're only going to get on PS4? as in exclusives. In reality though, they mostly showed concepts with gameplay of games we already knew(with a few exceptions though).

Overall, I'm excited for what showed. Worst conference for me was definitely Ubisoft because the pace was off as fuck.

Yeah, We Happy Few had a great trailer. I went from disinterested to really curious to know more. Definitely something I'll pay attention to in the future.

God of War was also really good, for similar reasons. I've never been interested in previous GoW games, but this new one is showing some really cool stuff. Persona 5 is my reason to buy a PS console, but I'll keep an eye on GoW for sure.

You'd almost hope they're farming it out, given which studios they have at their disposal who aren't already committed to Call of Duty or Skylanders.

Well, depends on who they decide to farm it out to. Could be real good or it could go to the lowest bidder and we get a really bad HD Remaster.

I agree are people expecting Sony to foot the bill? Sony should have brought back Rigs or other indie titles because expecting something from Activision or any publisher is too much.

I'm just glad no devs time is being wasted making a new Crash game.

You're not wrong and I agree with you but that's a cold statement towards Crash fans. lol

Right, which is why I think they're jumping the gun with putting out a $400 headset in 5 months.

Definitely. A lot of people are probably wondering which Xbox to get, whether they should wait for Scorpio or get a PC and Sony was just all "hey, it's all on PS4....and it looks damn good."

Vive doesn't have one? I don't think Oculus does, there are aren't typical long form games supporting VR, there are smaller games and "experiences".

I could totally be wrong but RE 7 is the only game I can think of, that I assume is a longer game, you can play entirely in VR.

Really liking their takes on things. Agree with it thoroughly.

They def didn't do enough to sell on VR (as things stand right now) and the thing is out in October.

MS did too.

I think pretty much everyone did at some point, no? Bethesda had rainbow ribbons for all of their presenters. EA didn't do anything, and I'd be willing to believe that it just caught them by surprise enough that they couldn't figure out what to do in the time before the event started. They did post a message of support to their site later, I think.
