Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

Sony was the only conference I enjoyed in what was an overall pretty weak line-up of conferences this year. I'm glad Giant Bomb offer decent insight and discussion though. I don't mind them having differing opinions. That said, I did find the thing about Sony shouldn't be showing stuff like Detroit because it's a "known quantity". There's a bit more to explain about that game than others. By that logic, no conference should ever show a shooter or racing game ever again.

Dan says it's worst sony conferences in years and is one of his biggest downers of the show, he is a monster clearly

He's completely right. There were cool games shown, and nothing was outwardly bad, but there was something definitely off about it. VR stuff was probably the most grievious error. Outside of resident evil, there was hardly anything at all. What was shown, was not explained or looked like the final product would be little more than demos.

Have they announced any guests for the live show? Is there any hope of an Adam Boyes/Dave Lang/John Vignocchi reunion, or are they banned?

Man, so close to Zelda dudes!

Also I had a thought, you know what the most hilarious thing about the new God of War is? People are totally gonna accuse Ninja Theory of ripping it off, Norse mythology setting, heavy focus on melee combat and dodges, RE4 style camera.

Jeff Green says he'll be there tonight

My two favuorite videogame Jeff's at the same time? Aw yiss

it just felt super low key and subdued in a way prior conferences weren't. The meat of it (the games) was good but the presentation was definitely different than it has been.

I don't know a single South Park fan. And everytime I see this on TV I don't understand it. Was this ever good? I mean it must have been, right?

E:

Oh okay. Why?

It has this odd mixture of grotesque humor and insane situations. It's really hard to describe why I like it. I'm not a fan of when they put toilet humor in one or two episodes.
I recommend watching 'Scott Tenorman Must Die' episode. Before I considered watching the series, I watched this episode and was gobsmacked by it's mixture of sharp reality and jokes.

From 2005 to 2010 it was really good. Before that it kind of sucked but served a purpose and from then onwards they've lost the magic (for me).

The movie was hilarious when I was 13, like the funniest thing I had ever seen.

Lang will be there on Thursday, JV too probably going by Twitter. Patrick will be there one of the days. Danny and Mary too. Not sure about any others.

I thought the Detroit segment was really well done, and I've never played a Cage game before, or even been interested in trying one.

Same here. So many posters missing the larger picture with this and assume everyone on the planet cares that they "could" have just build a PC, without thinking about how most people don't care that much about video games and want options based on what is easiest or cheapest for them. Microsoft wants xbox to be a platform and for people to upgrade or not as they please. People are too caught up in being console warriors trying to find any possible negatives in the MS "strategy".

Yup, it's a great strategy.

Tons of people who just want a cheap machine that plays most games. That's the Xbox S.

The fact that they all have the same platform and share most games is genius. If they open up the store even more for developers then maybe you can get a big percentage of PC games there too. For only 299.

They are also embarrassing early access and stuff. It's great to see them evolving the platform.

Choice and different skus for different costumers that will eventually evolve and update is great. Taking the best things about PC gaming with them too.

"Just buy a PC" crowd just don't get it I guess.

nothing so far has hit me as a 'must have' the way i saw splatoon and basically decided i wanted a wii u for that at least, but so far based solely on PR and marketing, here's what caught my eye

- State of Decay 2 based pretty much solely on the fact that it's State of Decay 2
- Titanfall 2 because that trailer was dope and that movement looks sick
- Spidermans because I still remember the Neversoft game and it looked actually quite cool
- Horizon: Zero Dawn looks interesting, need to know more
- Gravity Rush 2 because Gravity Rush 1
- Dead Rising 4. I genuinely love Dead Rising 2... never got to play 3 or 1... looks bananas.

Watch from a distance:
- Last Guardian. I still haven't played Ico or SoTC actually, so...
- Resident Evil 7. I don't like the series or horror but yo that was impressive
- Scalebound. I love you Kamiya but dude... dude. Terrible showing.
- Steep. Looks gorgeous. I dunno if I actually will enjoy playing it but jeeze.
- Cocainlands. Looks wild but without a big dumb hook I dunno if I can be bothered.
- Detroit. Never enjoyed a David Cage game properly before, but looks neat.
- Death Stranding. WTF

Man, I hope Zelda looks good today. I just wanna see what that game is... and if it's more than Skyrim with Rupees

Another Midway meet-up this year? Boyes is pretty much a guarentee too. Was a little unsure they'd do it again based on what happened with JV and Lang, even if they have smoothed things over. I still cannot believe JV tweeted out Lang's number duing that last stream.

I need Bakalar on one of the night shows.
I want to see him interact with the rest of GB so bad.

I'd just like to see Bakalar lay into Dan for a moment. Keep him grounded. I also wanna see a Jeff and Jeff segment, just to see them interact.

Wondering why they didn't have a live guest show on both Sunday and Monday nights.

The show doesn't officially open until today so not everyone gets to town or is just getting to town and people wouldn't have had a chance to check out the show floor and weird embargoes expire.

Also Microsoft/Sony/Ubi/Bethesda are all way too busy to have any reps on.

Got this from Twitter but it's just too good

After yesterday I can say that if Microsoft had all the indie games PS4 seems to get first I would totally consider an Xbox as my next console.

Overall I'm way more impressed with what MS is doing.

People are actually upset that Sony showed trailer after trailer instead of trotting out mouthpieces?

Nobody's mad about that, just stating that it can make for a lesser conference. The difference of opinion really seems to stem from people being able to differentiate the conference from the games. People can be excited for the games but see the conference as bad and it seems like some don't really see it that way.

It also felt like things got shuffled around at the last second with that weird Days Gone split, like something got cut last minute. Felt very off-balance.
