Danny's stream is awesome btw if you aren't watching.
He asks good questions, not your usual bullshit.
Sorry, I've been super detached. I thought that Wildlands demo looked alright, what are people hating on?Seems like Brad was ready to do that during the Ubisoft stream, but he was under an embargo. Hope he talks about it during the staff impression part of the stream tonight.

I just don't think they need options for the main character in the Legend of Zelda. If you play as Zelda, I could understand that but most of the talk seems to be people hanging on Female Link in a way that doesn't make sense to me.
They don't need a female protagonist when the game stars Link every time. No one seems that interested in playing a different character, just a different Gender for the same character. It would be like people asking for female Mario instead of just asking for a new female character to play as. Link doesn't need to be a different Gender than he has been for 25 years; what they need is a new female lead for a new game or series.
I totally agree the explanation was crap. They should have just not tried to create and explanation when there really isn't one.
Nintendo should have just said 'you will play as Link throughout this new game' and that's all they need to say.
Anyone else see that WW1 game Verdun that Drew played on UPF is coming to consoles in August? 2 WW1 games this year.
It's fun seeing the community digging through the Resident Evil demo trying to find a different ending, there are so many little things that can change.
I think the reason people jump onto female link instead of a new character is because the Zelda universe is setup in such a way that its possible. There are multiple links throughout time, maybe theres one thats a girl. Its as simple as that. If Link was a more singular consistent character and not a concept spread across multiple incarnations maybe more people would ask for Zelda/a new character instead and the tired comparison of "Well why dont people ask for female Mario?" would make sense.
They tried to gather mushrooms and a giant rock golem miniboss rose out of the ground with no warning, and then they Shadow of the Colossused it to hit its weak point, but got thrown off and killed with one hit.

Also Link has always been an avatar for the player, Nintendo specifically has always said that and never wavered on it.
Saying to half the world's population that, no, you don't get to feel like Link, have your token Zelda appearance...it has always seemed kind of shitty and just keeps seeming shittier with every refusal.

That's fantastic! I can't wait to hear them talk about this game, I hope at least one other person plays it in addition to Dan.

Let me take a stab at it for you.
- Dan is going to love it and wonder aloud if he should wait for the NX version.
- Brad will repeat the thing about Twilight Princess Gamecube being several months later again.
- Vinny will ask a question about what's different this time.
- Dan will compare the open world to Skyrim.
- Jeff will make a comment that he is interested in the game but something something Wind Waker was the high point of the series.
- Brad will say he is interested in playing it but then will not actually ever play it and then speak dismissively about it later.
- Dan will say he is getting the amiibos as soon as they are available.
Dead Rising is looking really good on the Gamespot stream.
Time elements aren't back so fuck it. Dead Rising without its most unique aspect is boring.
I agree that since it's a new Link you can do that but I think Link has been very consistent in character, even if there isn't much personality or character there. It's pretty much always the same Link.
It feels like the gender swap is a very low form of placating. I want to see people demand new female characters with personality. If there's no reason NOT to do it, then there is also very reason to do it.
It feels like just putting breasts on Link would be either a very shallow victory or someone's fetish. I don't want Hollywood to dig up dead scripts for failed sequel, cross out the male name and write in female names..DONE! I want to see them create for new female characters.
As it stand, Link is the star of Legend of Zelda games and Link is a male. I'd rather see some progression in new development rather then just trying to change one of those two facts.

Forza Horizon 3 gonna be a looker on Personal Computer

The full Zelda map does indeed look pretty frigging huge.
Ugh, really?
I really liked Dead Rising 1 and 2 and I feel like they've just been watering it down more and more with every game. It was such a cool zombie rogue-like with time being the main enemy, now it's just a shitty AAA musou with zombies.
Yeah, really enjoying it.
This running around the edge of the starting plateau area and looking at wide expanses is such a massive tease.

I don`t really get the point about a new character. Link is one of the most iconic characters in video games. Getting a female version of that character would be HUGE for a lot of people. Of course new female characters would be cool too, but that doesn`t mean that a female link wouldn`t be awesome for a lot of people. It doesn`t have to be either or. I also don`t really buy the argument of Link being a consistent character since you don`t really lose anything by giving people the choice. Much of the reason why people have been asking for this is that Link is such a blank slate with virtually no personality of his own, so it`s the kind of character that you`re supposed to really invest a lot of your own personality into to make it real, so having the choice would be cool for women and girls.
Did 3 get rid of it? Only played 1 and 2. While I won't pretend it was my favorite feature or anything the time mechanic did bring a nice air of tension and strategy and planning to it. That's hype deflating though.
