So the new Mafia footage is good? I'd like to get on board with that game moreso than just for the soundtrack.

It's got really interesting mechanics such as assigning regions to your underbosses and dealing with the pros and cons of that. Huge map to explore and awesome soundtrack....its just looks really nice and polished

*bolts upright in bed*

latest entry in long running japanese series since the 8 bit days. the protagonist now has a ponytail, and barely talks. they tested the waters with a well received portable game. you ride around on a horse in an open world now because everyone thought the past games were getting too linear. it's basically a far cry game with a sandbox and physics goofiness and attacking enemy outposts by marking them through a scope and crouch walking up to them. you can sled down hills using old series standbys that aren't meant to be ridden. you gather plants. you start the game "coming back to life" after a years long slumber. the technology is somewhat anachronistic, especially the hologram computer tablet you use as a map. you can take off their shirts now

Finding out Haden Blackman is the "DC wont let me marry Batwoman Haden Blackman" makes me really excited about Mafia III for weird reasons

Jeff is such a fucking professional, his interviewer man persona is like completely different from his regular/podcast persona yet still feels authentic.

I think i figured out the specific reason why Battlefield 1 weirds me out so much. The times when I thought about WWI were generally within the Anzac context and that context is almost always paints WWI as an ultimately pointless war where thousands of lives were sacrificed for no real reason. I guess making it into a video game feels in some ways too accurate.

Don't ask me why other wars don't trigger this instinct.

Alex focusing on this dude's hair is freaking me out.

I genuinely enjoyed most of Mafia II. I really liked the passage of time in that game. The era and setting were good too. I'm excited for Mafia III.

I think it's the pointlessness, and the brutality of that pointlessness. All wars are awful but WWI was just the worst kind of mess. War was being dragged into this new era and no-one really had a fucking clue what they were doing, and just tried stuff out and wasted thousands of real lives doing so. Such as the German's first use of chemicals, they had no idea it would be so horrifically effective, they were just trying shit out for the sake of it almost.
