Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

Austin was a really important addition to the site for a whole lotta reasons, and really helped GBeast grab me back in when I was mainly only listening to the podcast. I really hope anyone they add in New York similarly adds to it in their own unique way.

Also, for those interested in more Austin content, the second season of the tabletop podcast he runs just ended. It's fantastic work from everyone involved, occasionally sad, and generally hilarious, and if he is doing writing for games next, a really good display of his talent.

Currently working my way through the Johnny V, Lange, and Boyes segment but hearing about Austin leaving has just bummed me out. The Beastcast was fucking amazing and I loved what he brought to that group of guys. I wish him the best but just super sad to see him go.

I'm gonna miss his insights into other games outside of what the crew normally covers. He was a real real good fit for the team and brought a nice change to the dynamic. Even if it was only for a year, this feels like a big sea change with him bouncing.

Totally agree, and part of me wonders if East (tied with Kinda Funny and Game Informer as my favorite game groups) will be able to match the time with Austin there. God this sucks :(

shorter tenure than scoops right?

damnit austin, you done good. I've loved this last year of the Beastcast and the Vinny/Alex/Austin combo was just too fucking grand.

Ah, this blows

Austin fits in so well with Vinny and Alex. It's a shame to see him go but I'm not that surprised considering all the education he has. I always thought he would be around for a few years though. What a night. What an E3.

Man. This bittersweet ending makes me realize that one day we're going to have to deal with Giant Bomb shutting down. It's weird to think about how much this site has effected me.

Alot of people were saying this after Ryan...but here we are. As with any company, staff are going to come and go over the life of GB, it's something we have to deal with.

Austin is one smart mofo and no disrespect to rest of GB, he was always destined for greater things. I would actually be more torn up if Jeff, Brad or Vinny were to leave, those 3 are the nucleus of GB to me

I'm not worried about Jeff leaving, dude's pretty much on record saying he plans to do this shit till he drops.

But fuck, man. Austin. Only like a year at GB but he put out some of the best content the site's ever had. What a loss.

I think the greatest thing about Austin was that even though he was only there for a year, it felt like he had been there the whole time. The dude made an impact.

Im selfish and want him to stay, but im also super excited to see whats next for him. And like he said, hes still gonna come to the beastcast every now and then. Austin Walker is a duder for life.

I'm going to need to rewatch parts of that sendoff since I was fighting my internet throughout, and... that's gonna be hard. Man.

Nah man. Jeff will still be streaming GB content as the world ends or the internet shuts down or whatever. GB will never die as long as Jeff's still around.

Now I want Patrick back more than ever.

I wasn't expecting the stream to turn into "A Very Special Episode of Giant Bomb" at the end.

Austin was incredible on so many levels. His chemistry with Gerstmann when they interacted was amazing. He just fell right in and ran with it all. Fuck

What if this slot is like the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry Potter? What if we get stuck on a perpetual rotation of a new person every year?

Good luck to you Austin!

the vinny/alex/backalar/austin combo on gbeast was probably the fucking strongest regular crew podcast i've seen for ages. Every friday was a goddamn treat.

Awww, man.

Like... for cereal... I'm so great at interviews, quick looks, speaking while gaming... just hire me, right? I'm almost too good of a hire. JEFF PLS

I wouldn't necessarily say greater, but he's totally a teacher type of guy. Tenure track at some good college talking about media seems like what he's always wanted to do more than this stuff.
