Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

BG & E2 looks incredible. It's the cyberpunk world I've always wanted and I hope the final version is somewhat close to what I imagine.
It was a great looking CG trailer and cool sounding universe. They still haven't shown a game.

Still super happy the franchise is still alive.

Cool.

Like the games they showed. Strangely enough I'm really into that space ship pew pew game.

Mario game looks great, surprised about that.

Welp, one of these conferences should have a new legacy of kain. Can't lose my bet.

Yea well either way this still looks like Assassin's Creed with a bird drone, not really as radically different as Jeff says

Also Vinny should play Creed Syndicate, that's a good game

Assasins creed should just refocus to really good narrative and elaborate planning just to kill one target.

I was really really really hoping those games would culminate with the whole Desmond is the character and you're playing in modern/future time. I'm really sad that modern day stuff just got dropped when they killed Kristen Bell (monsters).

I think the new Assassin's Creed looks very much like an Assassin's Creed game. I'm not sure why they think it's a massive departure?

Maybe because they haven't played it for years I guess, apart from Alex.

The original plan was to go to modern times by Assassin's Creed 3 or 4 before they changed game directors.

God the direction this stupid franchise went pisses me off.

Same here. I was on board with the original story lined, especially enjoyed what they were setting up with Kristen Bell. Bummer they abandoned it.

No mini map, that stupid eagle drone, he moves differently, fighting system is completely different. There are some big changes here. What I don't like is how it has morphed into Ghost Recon/Division all of a sudden.

I think Jeff gets super hung up about mechanics where you tag enemies, might be part of the issue. You're right though, it doesn't look much different to, like, the on-foot bits of 4

Only Jeff seems to think it doesn't read as Assassin's Creed. I agree with Vinny and Alex in that it very much looks like Assassin's Creed, but with a bird drone. I don't know, I know there's probably way more numerous changes that only a hardcore fan of the series will care about. But for me, AC has always been kind of easy and shallow to where nuanced changes aren't enough to excite me. It's not like, say a Dark Souls, where a slight change in combat and loot systems would greatly affect the game.

I feel like Jeff is preeeeetty crazy saying this looks nothing like AC. I've played 1, 2 Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, Black Flag and Syndicate all the way through. They've had fortresses to clear out forever, the eagle marking is only new in that it's aerial, you could do the eagle vision marking shit in prior games.

Crowd/city density might lead to slightly different gameplay given the setting, but this still looks like it'll be an open-world collect-athon with some goofy shit in there. Throwing that dude off of the boat is the *MOST* AC thing I saw in that whole show. AC animations have been goofy for as long as there have been AC games. Black Flag is full of that shit.

I mean taking out Borgia towers in brotherhood is just the same thing as camps, now we just have an actual bird instead of tagging people with "eagle" vision.

Assassin's Creed 2 was really fun and the multiplayer in Brotherhood was cool but I think I still prefer the original game's concept of actually stalking and assassinating.

It was a bit repetitive due to the pre-hit missions but the actual targets were quite fun. AC2 still had a bit of that but it got kinda lost in the other sequels.

The assassinations in AC1 were truly special and amazing. The planning, the execution, the "oh shit that didn't went as planned shit shit shit" moments. All of that was mostly gone after 1 unfortunately.

Syndicate had some of that in some of its assassination missions and those were the best parts of the game

aside from the two protagonists being incredibly charming and lovable

I feel very very old when I watch E3 and the incessant, it feels like, multiplayer games. I like single player story games. I'm like a dinosaur or something lol I know they still exist as I had a recent good fucking run with Horizon, Nier and Persona but it's all co-op this and multiplayer that. Old man yells at clouds I know.

Saying Assassin's Creed looks like a less fun Horizon made no sense to me, because Horizon is just a less fun Far Cry, which has taken many elements from Assassin's Creed since Far Cry 3 and AC just looks like it is returning the favor.

Multiplayer games are much more sustainable for devs. People stay playing them longer and there are more ways to sell new content. It's sucks but it's true.

I don't think you can plug opinions into a math equation and solve for X

I can kind of see where Jeff/Vinny are coming from with the "This does not look like Assassin's Creed" because of how they are demoing it. They seem to only be showing more Far Cry-esque open world hijinks.

The only thing of new AC I dont like is the marking stuff

that shit was tedious in Wildlands and Far Cry, I dont need t in AC

Protect them at all costs

Now that I could breath again, what a conference. Pacing was almost perfect if it werent for The Crew, Just Dance and that pirate game taking so much time(even though it looked fun to me). Biggest surprise besides the obvious was that Mario game actually looked pretty fucking good. I'm definitely in. Now, Beyond Good & Evil 2....HOLLLLLYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. I've always wanted another game in that world again, anyone who played the first one know that the best things about the game were the universe, story and characters. The writing is really good and I have faith in Ancel(He's the director of the first game). Seeing him tear up on stage got me choked up and I REALLY can't fucking wait till we get the game. I can't believe it. Fucking FINALLY.

At least when I think back to Assassin's Creed games, I see a guy in a hood climbing buildings and running on rooftops in a city setting. They didn't show much of that with this new Assassin's Creed.
