Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

But seriously, I felt like this year blew its load so early that I didn't really need a lot of crazy announcements for this year lol. I feel pretty content about where gaming is currently.
That's exactly where I'm at. But I am a little sad that the glorious VR future seems to be dead in the water. Traditional gaming seems to be reaching diminishing returns in terms of technical and creative growth and innovation. I still enjoy it but it doesn't blow me away anymore.

So far that space dwarfs and spaceship pew pew game really caught my attention.

I still thought those hanging corpses on stage was odd and pretty dumb.

I dunno, to me the fact that Sony is still supporting its headset speaks that VR still has more leeway to find itself.

Also these past few years have actually made me glad that there is still innovation and creativity in using games to tell a narrative. The Last guardian only works because its innovations in animation and AI. Nier Automata mostly works by exploring what we've learnt from playing games over the years and the habits we form from it.

Games are dead folks, pack it up.

I think we found the real Destiny 2 lol

Seriously tho, I'm going to get this on PC cause I need this game to look like that. Holy sht, thank the gods this isn't Ubisoft, or I'd have to agree there might be downgrades. But with bio, we might actually get these amazon visuals. Can't come soon enough

EA did it you guys, thanks to the power of never mentioning it in the conference it's like Andromeda never existed at all.

I'd hope they're still supporting their headset. It's not even a year old. But I agree that VR still has time.

I'm playing Nier Automata now. Still early hours though. I definitely think narrative is one of the final frontiers of innovation in traditional video games, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Nier does.

I thought Dan was weird for not liking the Taco Bell breakfast menu while still being such a huge fan of everything else.

...But having had it I completely understand now. Only good thing are the breakfast crunchwraps.

Probably already been talked about but what was with Brad's response to SOTC? He seemed disappointed or something... Couldn't quite get a read on that.

He hates breakfast as a concept though. He has gone on record tons of times saying he'd rather have a double cheeseburger at 8am instead of any sort of breakfast.

He just seemed jaded due to it being the 3rd release of the game and nothing more than a graphical update....it doesn't really seem that long ago since that PS3 remaster, even though it was 6yrs ago now.

Sony was so disappointing, I got a headache, took a shower, and passed out. Damn.

Catching up, Wolfenstein 2 is my best of show.

Excited for New Donk City today.

Can't believe Ubisoft is releasing AC Origins same day as Wolfenstein. They're gonna get murdered in sales imo.

Why are they so surprised about Far Cry? It was always going to be just Far Cry with another skin on it. Maybe they expect way more out of that franchise than I would ever do.

There is no way wolfenstein is outselling AC, especially after a 1 year break. There is a reason why Ubi put out those ridiculous 800$ special editions. People will buy them.

The collective aversion of the staff towards sequels has always been my least favorite thing about the guys and I've been listening since 2008. Especially when it's a series or games they've liked (a lot) in the past!

Im just starting the Ubi stream now so I don't know their reaction but it's definitely not surprising if they weren't jazzed by it.

I'll eat a hat if wolfenstein outsells AC

They expected Ubisoft to go real serious about the topic for some reason.

So it's less about the game's mere existence and just how it's handling the crazy white supremacist cult enemy? That's actually surprising.

Really fun hearing their reaction to Mario/Rabbids. :)

I don't see Wolfenstein outselling AC despite how good Wolfenstein looked.

Yeah it's weird that they didn't seem to get it. I mean isn't is pretty regular practice to release different types of trailers to appeal to different audiences? I got interested in Far Cry 5 with the first reveal and the "promise" of an interesting story/characters. But my brother couldn't care less about that stuff and he got very excited about flying around co-op and doing dumb silly stuff and blowing shit up. So they're just trying to hit several audience types. Wish I could think of an example but I'm pretty sure a lot of movies do this... One trailer makes a movie look like an action, then another trailer plays up the romance, then another plays up the comedy aspect.

Games will peak when they're indistinguishable from real life, we're not there yet

I'm probably underestimating the potential of AC origins over that insane Wolfenstein trailer.

That said I'm getting Wolfenstein over AC as of now.

It won't be, they'll talk about ARMS and Splatoon 2 also...
I kinda want 30 minutes of Mario instead

I'll be fine with a bit more splatoon 2.

Though I think I need more announcements for switch for around the september-november timeframe because it's fairly sparse now.
