It's a shame he's been doing a mediocre job as head of Xbox, because Phil always seems like a pretty reasonable and decent guy.

I wonder how hamstrung he is by the budget Microsoft is giving him. Their first party output has just not been good enough compared to the competition this gen.

I have to imagine everything he wants to do is a battle with upstairs. Xbox have been going long enough now that there's really not much excuse for them not to have 1st party output similar to their competitors. They simply haven't invested in studios. Makes you wonder if there are conversations going on about maybe not carrying on with Xbox.

Sony has pretty much been knocking it out of the park lately. Nintendo seems to be surging back with the Switch. In contrast, Microsoft has fantastic hardware in both the Xbox One X and the Elite controller, but there's not much more beyond that. I still like Halo, Gears, and Forza, but repeating those franchises constantly becomes a bit stale. I need a breath of fresh air from Microsoft. Show me a new awesome 1st party IP or something.
