MS doesn't have to keep the cost at $500. Also, how would the Sony fanbase take to that? New console every 2 years?

Sony isn't releasing a new box within the next 2 years.

Whatever it could be 3 years like the Pro or even slightly longer.

However sure MS doesn't have to keep the box at $500, but PS has an install and arguably the game advantage right now and I don't think 1X is going to drastically change that. It doesn't seem to make the argument for people to change systems.

People overlook this fact. Sony used to be all friendly and open until they crushed the competition. No need for that anymore. Xbox was the exact opposite until they got crushed.
