I overstated it with scandal, but apparently Japanese fans who had been playing bootleg translations had been having a debate over what Japanese pronoun Sans should use to refer to himself, since I guess the pronoun system is more complicated in Japanese, with lots of options for each gender, and 8-4 has thrown them all for a loop by selecting a third option used largely by elderly rural folk in Japan, adding a whole bizarre new layer to the character.
