Giant Bomb - Extra Life 2015 | Give Money to Children's Hospitals

I kinda don't get it though, just block the numbers, and more than likely they're using their actual phone because who the fuck has a burner phone to call random numbers on streams they might see?

Or hell call them back and be way creepier, making loud 2AM cat screeching sounds until they realize that calling you isn't fun.

I was surprised how good the soundtrack in 5 is. Whoever took over for Marty O has done really well.

Yeah I am too but mission 14 in this particular place is just way better than the entire game. I mean, it made this part really memorable even though you're just fighting more enemies.

I'm several hours behind on the stream. "Burger sauce" was something I tried when I was in Europe, too. I think it varies. What I had was sort of like thousand island dressing, but not quite. I kind of liked it but it's definitely not really like anything I've ever had on a burger on the USA.

and the assholes are posting it in the chat

You know, I really thought better of Giant Bomb's community than this. I'm honestly surprised and disappointed. I know it's not the end of the world but I'm gutted for Drew because he'll probably have to change his number and deal with the hassle associated with it for months.

You're great Danny, but your opinion of Destiny is wrong.

Simply wrong.

You know what's worse than Destiny? People who think they're so smart and have cracked the code. It's a skinner box guys! You're all fucking rubes for playing it, but I'm smart, I see the Matrix's code! Fuck off.

I have a lot of problems with Destiny, I stopped playing the game because of them. None of them are dumb cosmetic microtransactions or the fact that it's - shock - a loot game. It's hilarious seeing all the people who have this reaction to Destiny, like where have you guys been for the last 15 years? Loot games have ALWAYS worked this way. It's just the first one to get really big on consoles.

I stopped playing the game when I noticed I have been doing too much for too long and being rewarded jack shit for it, that was before any DLC released and now I don't have it in me to return no matter whatever changes they did because other games have the priority now.

The main problem I have is with Danny saying it's milking its fanbase. Selling purely cosmetic dances that have zero affect on gameplay is not milking your fanbase, it's giving them options that they can follow if they choose to.

I love (post-TTK) Destiny and I thought Danny's long form video about it was one of the best pieces of editorial content regarding video games I've ever seen. The video was made before the 2.0 patch was released and some of his criticisms were addressed in it. But he didn't just go on some half-assed rant. He very methodically made his case.

But its not the just the cosmetic stuff he was complaining about though.

On this stream, Danny said his problem was Bungie milking its fanbase. Milking your fanbase would be done through monetary transactions, and there's nothing wrong with what Bungie are doing with its micro-transactions right now. They're purely cosmetic dances.

Danny did a whole Point episode on the game mechanics of Destiny and the drip feed of content and how it milked its fanbase. Way before microtransactions.

Yeah the Point video he made was great.

But every time the game comes up he just constantly yells about how bad it is and how Bungie is scum. It's like okay man we get it.

Hey. Destiny is flawed but I have fun playing it. Whooops

Danny's The Point episode on it was really good though. I know what the game is and I still choose to play it. It's a real good time with friends.

Well it sure beats everyone else giving it a free pass because the guns shoot good.

Both are annoying. I just thought it was lame that when Danny was on the Bombcast and the instant Destiny came up he immediately repeated "IT SUCKS!!!!" over and over. You can critique something and still resist the desire to let everyone know that you think it's bad.

He's being positive about the game right now even though he acknowledges that it isn't for him. He isn't just shitting on the game, everything I've heard him say on stream sounds like valid criticism to me.

I guess, if you've never heard of skinner box theory before and it's all new to you. But again, this is not new. It was slickly produced, but it's super 101 to anyone with even a modicum of academic interest in games. That's not meant to be condescending or anything, obviously I don't expect everyone to know everything. But the video didn't really go very deep beyond "this is how the game works." This (long) talk by Jonathan Blow from years ago is a really good, deep dive into this kind of stuff if you're interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqFu5O-oPmU
