Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

What is with people shitting on entire communities over nothing? You see that 2 year old thread with pictures of a teenage girl? A site of pedophiles. Requires a not free email? A bunch of entitled pricks.

You know that site reddit where thousands of people post links to things they like? Just a bunch of stoners making rage comics. There was a subreddit with pictures of "jailbait", therefore everyone on that site is a pedophile and it should be shut down.

I guess that's the internet on the internet.

Group mentality. Perfectly natural phenomena.

I have to say reading their thread I can't tell who's serious and who's just trolling the OP

Always crazy to me when people talk about how easy it is to get banned on GAF when most of the time avoiding a banning is pretty straight-forward.

1. Before hitting submit, look at what you just wrote. Is it very likely to offend and/or hurt someone?

2. If no, post. If yes, ask yourself: "Do I still really want to say this anyway?"

3. Next you should ask, "Have other people already said this exact thing over and over in this very thread?"

4. If yes: congratulations, you read more than the OP before posting. Also, don't post. If no, post.

These basic rules can also be applied to most real life interactions. It's not rocket science.

But then everyone posting in this thread isn't banned, so you probably know that.

God shit gets so weird when the podcast is late.

I don't look at the GB forums often how is the moderation? I haven't seen anyone banned but then again I look over there very rarely.

They are fairly hands off. I've never gotten a warning or anything, but I believe when a user is doing something wrong they just get a PM at first. People that get banned have to cause problems repeatedly or something extreme (racism or ridiculous insults against mods/staff). They are pretty good about when to lock threads too and let users discuss most things, even the condition/direction of the site. The mods are pretty cool, so I'd say the moderation is solid.

Strange, to see attempts at cross conversation on that topic.

And I've been around here forever, but I must have missed the day when a guy took a naked picture with a note to GAF.

Well, maybe a guy?

Wait, is Jeff hosting/editing tonight? If so, it probably won't take long, as he doesn't do nearly as much postproduction as Ryan.

While a late podcast is lame for me currently, it also means my afternoon at work will fly by which my future self will be pleased with.

EDIT: it's up! Slow afternoon confirmed.
