Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

The Bombcast has been excellent lately, but I mostly attribute that to Patrick's absence (I know it's because of unfortunate circumstances, but I haven't enjoyed his contributions to the Bombcast for the past year or so).

100%. When Jeff hosted it was the best episode in ages.

Honestly I'm just frustrated that this keeps coming up, not specifically at this last dude

"I don't like patrick because so and so"

"I don't like Jeff because he says this and that"

like, I honestly don't give a fuck, but it just frustrates me that people go on the Internet and say weird shit about actual people with jobs that you don't even pay them for.

This is more "I hate a lot of the human race" thing more than "fuck that one guy" for me. idk, I need to see a therapist or something idk

You should go have outdoor relations with a member of the sex of your choosing.

Jeez you can tell Dave and his sister are siblings.

Ya think?

Do you count Quick Looks as video features too? If you watched an entire week of content and then looked back on it and found Ryan talking about the content before it happened the high point, you might want to consider not actually visiting Giant Bomb anymore.
I'll watch part of a quick look and skip around but generally no I don't sit around for hours watching other people play video games. That's why I liked ILM, it was short and entertaining and actually had some production value and thought behind it.

Sorry if that makes me not enough of a Giant Bomb fan for you or something, I don't even know what you're trying to say.

I don't understand why you think like this, that doesn't mean I'm saying you're wrong. The average old I Love Mondays to me is Vinny or Ryan standing in front of a green screen describing games in three scripted sequences that can't actually describe what they think of the game because they haven't played it yet whenever ILM is recorded. They do this with some of the games they will Quick Look the upcoming week and say "look forward to X and Y". There's a musical intro and if it's an old ILM there's an ending where the host asks the community a question.

All the content that's actually there is fullfilled by current ILM or, hell, just the schedule on the site. The differing thing is basically if the jokes are written down on a paper and performed in front of a green screen after a musical intro that's the same as last week's or if the jokes are improvised on the spot by the guys, and those kinds of jokes and conversations are basically why I listen to the Bombcast and watch most of their content every week.

I don't know what to tell you. I mean yes you just described them accurately, and I found them entertaining. My wife even watched them with me and she doesn't even really play video games. It was just a slickly produced video with some good personality. Whereas I don't find the current ones where someone just walks around the office recording (if that's what they still do, I stopped watching) to be very entertaining at all.

Anyway apparently I'm like the only person in the world who liked them so I doubt they'll ever go back.

Someone else is going to have to make the bombcast thread tonight. My internet will be out unless Comcast manages to fucking finally send people out in the next few hours, which they've been saying they would for the past week.

I don't have a problem with either format but I feel like in general Giant Bomb's best content are products of spontaneity, whereas their more rigidly planned/executed stuff falls flat to me (Happy Hour jesus christ/most TNT's).

The last few has been Jeff sitting at his desk recording Ryan and Brad sitting at their desks with Drew standing over Ryan with a clipboard taking notes. All three of them discuss what's coming up that week - impromptu planning right then and there mostly.

It's no longer office tours or car-ride talks like it was when they first moved offices. I like them, not only because they're funnier and longer, but because the guys actually discuss (albeit very briefly) each game and why they think it would be a good fit to show or not to show on the site. It's definitely not super produced and scripted like the old one but it's more informative for sure and gives them room to fit the personality and humor in there.

Subscribed for now because I really enjoy some of their videos. Have they just given up video reviews for the sake of more quick looks? I know video reviews aren't exactly unique for their market but I do still enjoy their past ones.

I can't wait for GB to get really settled in and back to creating great daily videos, so all this haterade can stop flowing.

I have faith it will get better, otherwise why would they plan another Big Live Live Show.

They said they may do more, but it's not gonna be a frequent thing.

Based on the budget talk this week...lol

Yea but they lost some parts from Episode 50.

Power outage and they lost a lot of Rise's dungeon footage, IIRC

They were on a UPS. They didn't lose any footage, you can just see the sections where they lost power when the picture goes black and white and they start freaking out about getting to a save point.

For a while there they THOUGHT they lost all of episode 50, but they didn't.

Wait, they're doing another Tribes: Ascend TNT? If it's anything like last time, they'll spend the first hour playing with random people since they cant figure out how the friends list works.

They've done a previous one? Jeff and Ryan both sounded like they were going to check it out for the first time.

I finally got a copy of tetris battle gaiden, now I'm ready for the weekend.

I had to get it from a Japanese site since there are none on eBay and they were going for insane prices. Kind of made me consider getting multiple copies to flip.

How much did you end up paying (if you don't mind my asking)?
