That office is gone and closed at this point. All the sites are out of it.

During the livestream they talked about how they're a little worried because any mail going to that office will no longer be able to reach them.

How is a mail going to an "office" ?

Not necessarily. There will still be memberships, it'll just be Gamespot's Total Access. Shift over should be mid-April.

Right, but before that content was to justify paying for a subscription to support the site not just ads. Now they've got this 'great' advertising that Jeff was talking about. One would think they wouldn't have to hold anything hostage

The FAQ now says this:

Will premium content still continue?

Yes, All the Giant Bomb premium shows you've gotten used to over the last few years will continue in their regular format. Give us a week to get used to our new digs, but we'll have new content coming your way within a week.

Well, duh, but that has nothing to do with the office itself. WM server still exist so the emails are coming in like normal.

Mail? As in letters printed on paper or packages wrapped in appropriate packaging, then handed off to various companies that then have people physically transport the object from one location to another?

OP needs an update about who is going with them.

From what I understand it's:

Jeff, Ryan, Brad, Vinny, Patrick
+ Drew & Dave
+ some other engineering guys

Is that right?

I really hope Giantbomb aren't effected negatively by the move (beyond the obvious loss of having Tested and Rorie there) as they're the only Videogame website I give a damn about any more.

Other than that I really hope there's something planned for Matt, he's one of the most likeable guys in the world and the fact Tested are covering movies now has me a little worried for him.

That's so sad. I really like Rorie. I think the Horrible Nonsense stream endeared him to me.

...which makes me wonder if we'll keep getting random content like that. Still one of my favourite archived vids to watch/listen to when I'm getting work done.

I have been watching this for 35 minutes now, and I have no idea what they are doing.
I am laughing like a crazy person though.

I'm a little worried that they might not be able to keep all their promises, but otherwise I'd say I'm excited. The guys wouldn't have made this decision if they weren't sure things would work out for them. I'll also be tuning in live for TNT for the first time in months just to see them finally put that whole thing to rest.

I'm also super happy about what's happening over at Tested.

Back in the day Gamespot used to have an INSANE game library. I have to imagine it is still there.

And if I'm imagining that, I can imagine what GB will do with its contents. Oh my god. SNES marathon would have nothing on it.

It's amazing how this idea seemed terrible and now it's opening so many possibilities.

Being the best option available and being sure things will work out are two different things.

What's TNT tonight?

Oh. Never mind what I said earlier then. I assumed getting sucked up by CBS meant there'd no longer be a need for member-only content and the Total Access code was supposed to be recompense for that stuff getting un-premiumed.

But now it becomes weird because they've got this giant corporation behind them. Like Kickstarting money to Valve or something.

I shall see how things pan out.

I thought that GB premium content was gone and it was in the GS umbrella now but I'm not sure.

from the premium users FAQ:

Are Giant Bomb memberships being rolled into Total Access at GameSpot?

No. The programs are separate. The GameSpot account is an added bonus that is optional. We're committed to building our premium member base and will always look to add more value to our users.

So... They've bought Giant Bomb, giving them a load of money, yet Giant Bomb will still have their own premium membership service?

Maybe this was all a ruse to get Comic Vine purchased, and take a ton of money for themselves?

So ... Did Wiskey go bankrupt, or did GameSpot pick up GB because they're popular?

Also wondering if the GS management has changed since Jeff left.

Also -- remember when GB moved into their basement offices Ryan commented 'it's got a real 90s dot-com company vibe in here'. Sounds about right. Boom.

Probably a little of A, a little of B.

Whiskey probably wasn't in the position for long-term survival, and was looking for buyers. Sounds like Jeff helped broker a deal that sold the two most popular sites to CBSi, while the rest of the sites when to another buyer.

First thing I thought of.
