Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I love that Jeff really thinks GB won't be folded into gamespot eventually. Adorable.

I'm along for the ride up until the moment the current douchebags from GS start invading. There is nothing worse than Kyle Van Ord

Hmmm... The more this goes on, the better it actually sounds.

1) no "full on" merger, GB.com staying the same
2) separate reviews from Gamespot
3) Giant Bomb carrying on being Giant Bomb, but with more money.

... Hmmm...

Yeah, I have no problems with this. I liked Will/Norm/Gary but hopefully they'll still make some guest appearances, and they weren't actually part of Giant Bomb the website. As long as Jeff keeps his word and they keep their integrity, I'll stick with them.

It's been a few months since I last listened to the Hotspot (ever since they went to video form) so I think I might jump back in now to re-acquaint myself with some of the GS personalities.

I know that lots of people aren't going to like them, but hey, I don't mind most of them. Riccardo Torres puts me to sleep, however.

Guys, we may want to calm down. Most if not all the GB crew is staying the same. The website isn't going to be gamespot.com/giantbomb, it'll still be giantbomb.com. They're not becoming a part of Gamespot, they're just owned by the same company. They'll just have more money to do shit now. I'm honestly kind of excited.

Only downside is no GB/Tested/Screened crossover. I really wonder what Matthew Rorie is doing...

Keep drinking that Kool-Aid...

Man you defend every little thing they do.

Does this mean Dave is officially part of GB now? Since whiskey is gone? I'm just glad Dave is going over with them, because Dave is awesome.

Not getting folded is just silly.

There is no need for both Gamespot and Giant Bomb to exist under the same umbrella. 6 months from now, an executive will look at traffic data, will think that merging both will increase the overall and they will do it.

I guess Whiskey just didn't have a choice. Financial concerns and all.

So:

-Giantbomb.com remains a separate site
-All GB staff and Drew/Dave are staying
-The retain full creative control and don't answer to Gamespot/CBS in terms of contents, reviews, etc.
-Reviews, Quick Looks, Bombcast, and stupid random shit continue as-is
-Move to Gamespot subscriptions are via a coupon code, Gamespot doesn't get your current subscription/CC info
-No changes to ads (paying subscribers still get zero ads)
-Today at 4pm PDT Jeff is doing a live thing with John Davidson to finally reveal what happened with Gerstmangate

On a surface level this all seems good; Alex Navarro said on Twitter that the regime at CBS/GS now is totally different from when Gerstmangate happened, and that would be my only main lingering concern which they seem to be addressing later today. For the time being I will give them the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes.

I still don't get how Will and Norm somehow got in bed with the Mythbusters. That's crazy.

Neither do I, but I will suddenly pay a lot more attention to Tested (loved their guest-ins on the videos and stuff, but wasn't really interested in a lot of their content).

When the best thing you can hope for is "nothing will change" you know the announcement was really lame. But let's what'll happen in the future.
I just know that Vinny is their trump card and I'll follow him wherever he goes!

?

I've been very critical of them before. This is just not as bad as some people are making out.

Not hating it = blind fanboy defense? Whatever mate.

Maybe you should check this thread out: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=448393

See that? I've been liking GS for a long time way before this announcement.

God, I hate it when people who defend something are labelled like that.

All right, glad you know the future.
