And where it affects entertainment value is yet another. Not that I'm cool with Alex-bashing, but he certainly doesn't gel the way Dave, Drew or Vinny do.

You can tell from Alex' tweets that this stuff is getting to him. I feel sorry for him, even though I think this thread is mostly civilized . The same thing probably can't be said about the GB forums, though.

Shockingly, through video and audio content, he has a personality. It may not be a fair reflection as him as a person, but that's all we have to go on and all that matters as consumers of GB content.
His personality from GB (and Gamespot) is annoying to a lot of people.

Whether you do or don't have a preference for him is fine, but how can someone say there's anyone "more GB" than Alex. Do you not know who Alex is? His history in gaming journalism as well as his ties with GB? He's more GB than anyone. If anything, his participation and appearances are so sporadic nowadays that I think people unfamiliar with him get the wrong impression.
What's wrong about that? Should we just PM him/each other about it?
Some people just don't like they guy* and feel the content is less appealing when he is in it. *And by 'guy' I mean his online ethereal persona only gathered by what you can see of him in videos and podcasts.
I demand you construct an underground railway system wherein you pass notes back and forth about how much you hate Alex.

I used to like Alex back in the Gamespot days, but as I grew up he didn't. He's just been snarky for ten years and it grinds me now. I also grew to hate that HORRIBLE awkward laugh he does at each unfunny jokes he makes. I suppose at least there's one person laughing at them
I haven't even seen the PAX panel, I was just commenting that it sounds like he might annoy me. In terms of being annoying he might grind my gears, but Alex at least seems like a cool bloke, unlike Ryan who I think has a fake personality when it comes to GB which makes him tolerable. If I could be either of their friends in real life, I'd almost certainly pick Alex.
If Vinny and Dave weren't up for that threesome, that is.

Who, Alex? I didn't say anything about him; I was speaking in generalities. But no I don't think you need to know someone personally in order to have an opinion about their personality, which I think comes through easily comes through easily on podcasts and videos.
If knowing people personally was a requirement to have an opinion about someone, that would be a bit bizarre. Vinny certainly wouldn't get as much love here for example.

Everyone has a friend like Alex. He's a good guy but always has a way of rubbing people the wrong way. I'm alright with him because no matter what people say about him, he doesn't change. Gotta respect someone who doesn't feel like they have to change their personality just because the whiny Internet can't handle it.

Nope. You are somewhat right. Some threads will be genuinely decent, but yeah. There's is an, uh, interesting contingent over there that make carrying on quality threads incredibly difficult. There is a younger crowd mixed in so I guess that just comes with the territory.

I find their forums to be ambitious, but super slow and awful to navigate.
Getting pmed when someone quotes or replies to you is a great feature though.
Definitely one of my favorite features as well. Especially when someone randomly replies to something you posted months ago.

I thought Jeff Green would go up for the panel as well. I know he was there with his daughter so maybe he just wanted to sit with her and watch.
I did get my fill of Jeff Green during Rock Band Night. He was not there with his daughter for that which is a good thing because she would have died of embarrassment watching her dad play Rock Band in a dress.
Pretty much, the majority of worthwhile stuff is usually contained in some fashion within the user blogs. There are certainly some great users on there, it just so happens that they aren't the most prominent in the general threads.

afterwards I couldn't really stand the place anymore and spent my time lurking here.

That's the only problem I've had with him on the bombcast. He's got interesting things to say, but he just feels like he needs to respond to literally everything.

That was the secret best panel of PAX East.
