Well fuck. Just got a message that my subscription has been renewed. I thought I only accepted a one time 4,95 payment at the end of March, but apparently it automatically renewed both at the end of April and today. Particularly a bummer due to the lack of (premium) content lately. Hopefully they make those $5 worth it with their E3 coverage.

Except that's not what happened at all. Blow was being an asshole about everything and they just answered his questions the best they could but he didn't like the answers. They tried to talk about other games at the show.

Jeff's a realist, Alex a cynic and Ryan an asshole. Vinny is vinny.
I dunno. Jeff is down on a lot of stuff, but he also seems to like a lot more stuff than Ryan does. And when Jeff likes something, you can really tell, because he gets really excited about it.
Ryan keeps up his assholish persona so I find it very hard to tell when he genuinely likes something. I get that he's doing it for the humor effect, and I think he pulls the schtick off far more effectively than Alex does (whose ironic detachment thing has gotten really fucking old), but it does tend to often bring a downbeat air to the proceedings.
Patrick tends to be manic and hard to pin down, and Brad tends to be super low-key doing the podcasts.
That leaves Vinny, who tends to exhibit the clearest enthusiasm for gaming on the podcast. That's not to say that he's always the most cheerful and optimistic. I think when Brad or Jeff find a game they really like, you can clearly hear it and they clearly want to champion the game. It's just that, to me, it feels like Vinny can muster interest and excitement for most everything.

They've said in the past that it's really difficult to paywall audio stuff, so it's unlikely that Premium content will be available in audio-only format any time soon.

It's a shame because I'd love more Giantbomb stuff to listen to at work, but I'm not likely to sit around for 2 hours to watch a radio show at home.
Download it and convert it to an audio file, maybe? There are pretty simple tools for doing that. It's not like they have any visual moments in it apart from maybe one minute of Jeff fooling around with his headphones.

I always got the impression that he's an incredibly nice guy who had to play the asshole, -- and it stuck. It leaves him open to attack, obviously, but from a direction that's ultimately less painful. Being mocked for the way you look scars people.

Or you can just open a tab and not watch or if you're on a phone, play the video and don't look at it. There are a few parts where you'll miss out because they show how parts of the redesign look but you don't have to sit down and watch the video just because it's a video.
That's weird cause I've never felt that he was an asshole. Aside from Alex, I don't think that anyone involved with Giantbomb is an asshole but Jeff always seems like the most negative person of the group, unless he's talking about a pinball game.

Yeah, I never understood GAF's "Ryan is an asshole" mentality. I think the guy seems super-nice and funny for the most part, I really don't understand the hate.
Let's put it this way - I wouldn't hesitate to hang out with any of the GB guys. A lot of podcasters or entertainers come across as forced and unnatural in their desire to make the listener "like" them, and that's off-putting.

Having talked with Ryan both online and in-person, he's an extremely cool and smart guy. Just don't over-analyze how he acts on Twitter and in Giant Bomb content and take it too seriously. It's all for fun.
