Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

One thing I've noticed in all this Breaking Brad is that 50% of the time or so instead of shooting guys Brad just walks back and forth while changing weapons. Gary really needs to be there to keep him on track.

Man, this just reminds me of the time I tried to play Duke Nukem 3D a couple years ago. That first episode is pretty great, but once you get past that, every single map is an hour of "Where the fuck does this keycard go?" or "Did I miss a button somewhere?"

It was fun until I ran out of ammo and can't finish the level I'm on. There's enemies all over the place and guys shooting rockets, but i have my fists. If I die, I restart with a shitty pistol.

I got all the achievements in doom 1, so I need to finish this too. I just don't want to start the entire episode again just to conserve ammo.

I kept several saves at different points in the levels and one for the level before the one I was on, just in case a better method somehow dawned upon me later. Probably took a solid month of playing to do all the episodes.

After watching the last two DOOM II Breaking Brads, I think I prefer something in-between the two...

I thought Bioshock was a good in-between example. some linear section. some branching paths. Not nearly as easy to get lost as in old Doom levels. It didn’t feel as maze like but it still allowed you to explore.

or, any section in a Halo game that opened up the map into a big open field with multiple enemies. It may still have been a linear path from one end of field to the other, but simply allowing the player to approach multiple enemies with different strategies and in a different order made it feel much less confined.

The great thing about them is that they let the player pick what type of experience they want, easy and normal for a game that's pretty straight forward and hard and above to have many side objectives that need thought and exploration.
 
Oh god I just got to Brad's first death in Part 2. From about 5mins in I got this bad feeling, a little like when I watch the Trials Extreme levels QL. Save you git, save!! How can you forget to save!!!

Great video. I love those "what's in here.....OH GOD!!!!" moments

Breaking Brad really does seem to need a third person talking to spice it up. It was fascinating while Brad Muir was there, then kind of dropped off a cliff. I thought Ryan was a perfect fit in that spot last time.

Yeah, you need two other people to talk while Brad plays. If Brad gets pulled into the conversation too much his game suffers, and he ends up making silly mistakes and having to repeat a lot of stuff.
 
The CoD4 Breaking Brad is still my favorite. So tense, and hysterical watching Brad just never get close.

It inspired me to try it myself on my PS3, even though there was no trophy attached to it. Took a couple of hours, but then I could do it every other time.

Jeff at the end said something that could lead to amazing things, playing a easier game at the same time.

1. It gives the viewer something to look at with a sense of change to it, rather then the same room for 40 min.

2. Gives Vinny stuff to play with.

3. Makes more chances to rub it in to Brad.
 
I really don't think Muir still being there would have helped spice up Brad walking in circles for 30 minutes. I really enjoyed this Breaking Brad, Jeff just dying laughing everytime Brad got put into some fucked up moment with 100's of demons was hilarious.
 
Or record a casual podcast at the same time, so you'd have 3 or 4 people having a normal conversation, with, at first occasional and then gradually more frequent, outburst of profanity from Brad.
 
I watched the Ripper playthrough this morning. Probably the funniest thing I've seen on GB, outside of the Phantasmagoria sexy time scene.
 
Just finally got around to listening to the new Jar Time, and I thought it was a really great episode. I always love just listening to Jeff's one-on-one talk stuff.



It figures that the one weekend I spend most of my time away from the internet/with family is the weekend they generate a ton of content. Oh well, that's a good problem to have, I suppose.

My least favorite rando pc game (just personal preference). Wasn't it also the last one we got?

Edit: Nope that was mechwarrior 4 in Feb. Still too long ago :(
