A papercut doesn't matter when your brains are bashed against the inside of your skull.

But the bat the completely useless in close range.

The only way to win with the bat is to KO the other guy in the first hit.

If you miss or dont take him down in that first hit the other guy will get up close and start stabbing the heck out of you.

You can choke a guy with a bat, and keep him at range by swinging low.

If the knife dives over the low swing, or even just takes it and stumbles into you, one stab will put you way far behind.

And choking isn't a valid point as it's game over with a knife in that position but with a bat they can still struggle.

And choking isn't a valid point, if you had a knife in the choke position you'd just silt their throat which is much more effective.

A slash to the arm or chest will be painful but not immediately take you out of the fight. Even if it's a serious injury you can keep going when the adrenaline's pumpin'. A good thwak to the head or arm, on the other hand, will straight up shut those parts down.

Bats are multi-functional.

When you have someone get close range, you just flip it upside down and use the handle to fight off knife strikes. You think that round piece at the base of the grip is for show? It'll straight mess you up if you get to close.

But when your choking the guy he is stabbing you your leg / arm / side. I dont think you could keep a choke going when you have a knife going in and out of the side of your mid section.

Plus taking a swing opens you up for attack. You think you can take a decent enough swing with a bat that wont open you up for attack just before and after the swing.

There is just less chance of failure with the knife. You can miss or not get a good stab in but you have a giant speed and energy needed per strike advantage.

How deep a slash are we talking? Is the knife cutting through muscles and tendons? Those will cut down on the sort of bat-swinging you'll do.

I like how the bat vs knife thing doesn't have an obvious correct answer. It just divides people into two groups, both believing that they are 100% correct.

If I learned anything about debating on the internet, you cannot give up any ground if you want to win.

I would lead my bat army against any knife hoodlums.

A stab would still put you on a clock though, you'd have to go on the attack before the blood loss gets you which would make it easier for the knife guy to dodge and maybe get in for another opening.
Plus I think you could parry a bat with one arm and still have enough strength to stab a guy if you were moving in already.
