Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I seem to recall that somewhere they said that they feel that they've pretty much covered all the aspects of California Extreme over the past couple of years, so there wouldn't really be much to gain by filming more stuff this year.

It's not something like E3 or PAX where you have multiple new games and stuff to show off.

From what I saw they were there as fans (of the games). I had such a great time at CAX. It wasn't about press conferences, or sales, or hype, or marketing, or personalities. It was about playing games. Tons of games.

Internet.

Wow people on the internet can be giant douches. Patrick just tweeted this:

Internet. RT @patrickklepek klepek, you are the biggest hipster i know. That why you are upset? glad someone close to you died, GB improved.

Seriously, why would you send that to someone? That's just sick and wrong.

I can only imagine the scumbag who would tweet that message. Sounds like something a wretched 12 year old would say but knowing the anonymous slime that is skulking the internet, it could easily be a full grown adult.

I'm not gonna say what that asshole said, and say I'm glad someone close to him died. That fucking sucks, because I've been going through the same thing recently.

However, I gotta admit, I've enjoyed the GB content recently a lot more without him....

Honestly, the only redeeming thing about that whole message is that I'm sure the guy is raging that Patrick never mentioned his name. Sending something like that, it's clear that the guy wants attention.

What a douchebag.

Edit: I found him if anyone's interested

Link

That person is clearly an asshole and I hope twitter bans them and Patrick can take comfort in the fact such stupidity and aggression often comes from amounting to nothing in life

That said Patrick calling the author of the hipster article a dick is bullshit too. Don't get me wrong, the article is shit, but Patrick should be above name calling on the internet. You can criticize an article/game/whatever without insulting the person who made it

I feel bad given the circumstances but I'm kind of inclined to agree. Still enjoying his articles from time to time, though.

Seriously fucked up and factually incorrect, GB is definitely missing some Klepek right now. The only silver lining is that the twat in question has been flooded with tweets along the line of "What the fuck is wrong with you".

As despicable as it was to say, I, honestly, think unleashing the internet on the guy will just blow it up into something uglier than it already is.

Yeah. The guy's a douche. Giving him attention is feeding into exactly what he wants. Just note that he's a douche and move on.

Seriously what I hate the most about that comment is that confronting the guy in real life about it would very likely lead into him shitting his pants and crying. Ughhhh....

He's a 20 year old British guy.

The twitter user name doesn't seem that unique so it could easily be someone else but I don't know what modern snooping method detective gaf now utilizes

One of my small fears is waking up some day and realizing some other Hampster Pampster pissed off 4chan

Yeah, this is an important note in dealing with any Internet 'bad ass' who feels the need to go out of their way to be a huge piece of shit.

Of course anyone with as many followers as someone like Klepek would have people jumping to their defence, but it's too bad people don't realise that the silent treatment is infinitely more effective than any number of "fuck you"s.

Since he's from the UK he really needs to be more careful, he wouldn't be the first arrested under the Protection From Harassment Act. The most recent was just today.

Disgusting.

Looking forward to Patrick returning to the bombcast, hasn't been the same without him.

I also want to know more of his thoughts on Eternal Darkness!

Poster above makes a good point about my characterization of the Gawker author. You're right.

Figured I'd drop in a link to my last thoughts on the matter, after which I'll leave all this alone, and let people get back to, uh, games, or the lack thereof, anyway.

I didn't even know you had a Tumblr, awesome. Following you now.

Also, you saw someone being a dick to someone on the internet and said "Dick." This guy saw you defending someone he didn't consider worth defending, and said he took delight in a close personal loss of yours. He went too low, and you shouldn't feel the need to apologize.

Looking forward to your return to Giantbomb. I admit when you first came on I was worried about what you'd do to the sites chemistry, but you've only improved it. The news section has gotten way better, your Worth Reading articles are a great send off every Friday for the Giantbomb weekend, and it's always great when you're on the podcast. Hope you enjoy your honey moon and then come back quick to the site, your absence is noticed.

Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, but, will there be a bombcast today with some guys out of the office?

When has people being out of the office ever stopped a Bombcast? They had Brad, Ryan, Jeff and Vinny for at least a portion of yesterday, so they could have recorded it then.

"The person has since apologized."
That's good I guess. I wonder what led to it?

Questions, which is worse: That social media bring to the surface the kind of person who would say that (IE a human crap-steak) or that it would for some reason incourage a otherwise normal person to say something that horribly stupid?

Who knows? Glad to see Patrick take the high road.

That's not something you can just apologize for. You don't just say something like that by accident or because you're having a bad day.

If anything stopped the Bombcast it would be something utterly bizarre and seemingly unrelated. Like the power outage in India.

The person in question posted has only posted to Twitter a few times, but most of the comments were insults toward people in the gaming industry. There was a wish for Gabe Newell to "eat himself to death" and a statement that Jennifer Hepler would be angry over being denied "her third lunch".
