Can't believe people are whining about $5 a month because they don't put premium content up every day.

I don't think they will be happy until either:

A) They get premium content every day which isnt feasible and everything else will suffer content wise
B) The site cancels all subs, drops all videos, plasters ads everywhere and turns into just another game review website.

Seriously. $5 a month is more than worth it for the content they put out, I don't pay for premium features, I pay my pittance to help support the site, the guys, the videos and the content I love.

If you aren't a subscriber then stfu, you are getting everything for free including some premium stuff that is archived on twitch that isn't protected.

That's one of the standard complaints about Patrick, though. He has a tendency to proclaim something he thinks he heard somewhere as fact, and no one else knows any better, so it just goes over.

I'm glad you brought this up, because I was so busy in December I didn't realize -- did they really not do any Premium Content the entire month of December other than one Jar Time video (which I consider supplemental)? Actually, from what the site Videos -> Subscriber tabs say, I could say the same thing for the latter half of November too.

I was going to respond with "I don't think many of us are complaining about a lack of output overall, just a lack of consistency, transparency, blahblahblah" but now that you've pointed it out to me I'm not sure I feel the same way.

Heh, if I do resub this year, it definitely won't be in September during the BLLSL (as I too am a Day 1 sub). I'll wait til the New Year at the latest.

They were making the GOTY videos and all the other stuff for it. I'm not surprised.

Considering Vinny and Drew were up to their eyeballs in work, I don't know that we would have gotten much content if they all wanted to. Unless other people on the staff suddenly had their computers set up for video editing and encoding the video files to the standards that the production team do, that is.

Also, I don't know that it's really up to the users to decide what is and isn't premium content. Why is jar time "supplemental" to you, Duffyside? It's direct interaction with the premium paying members (well, basically), and there has been some absolutely fantastic stuff Jeff talks about. It has become one of my favorite things on the site because we get Jeff pulling from his crazy game knowledge regularly in it.

Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Vacations as well as all the filming and production on GOTY stuff you expected them to release premium content as well?

Again with the entitlement. Let me repeat: GiantBomb is a site that advertises their premium subscriptions with the promise of daily exclusive premium content. How could it be any clearer that this is not right?

Cool, you're right, it's dumb they still have that ad up and it's not true. It'll be gone in a few weeks when the new site launches. Unsubscribe if it bothers you. There's nothing else to discuss.

Because it's not one of the Friday shows, basically. If I'm not mistaken, it also is one of the features that arose because of the loss of Tested and Screened to help keep the overall content up (which was smart).

Remember how I got roped into this side of the argument, please. I defended Giant Bomb by saying "uh, actually, they never promised daily Premium content" and then was shown "yeah, they did. They still do."

In the process I've realized that they also didn't really deliver on their "there will be Premium content on Friday" thing, almost no Premium content the last, say six weeks of the year, and I remembered how they totally punted the City of Heroes thing.

You're right that they were making lots of great end of year content during much of that time. I know, and I presume the same will happen this November. Which is why I'll re-up in January, not September, hence depriving them of my $50 for a whole four months. That'll show 'em.

To be blunt though, as I said yesterday; I think the site is on a (VERY) slow, steady decline, and has been since the move to CBSi, if not even a little earlier. I care because I love the site, and always wanted to see it get better over time, not the opposite.

The daily thing is shitty, they said they're removing it. It sucks that it's there when it shouldn't be, but when it's gone, what are you going to complain about then?

Other people, you don't need to jump on every fucking grenade. The message will be gone, he will look stupid, you're not helping your own cause by getting down there with him.

When that claim is finally removed my lobbying will be done. Changing this is a thing of minutes, it should be done on Monday. It should have been done years ago. I'm not going to look stupid because I achieved them to be truthful.

Insane GB fans really are the worst. You want them to lie to their customers just because? Do you think CBSi management will look gracefully at one of their sites being run in this manner?

I hope you didn't interpret my post as hostile or accusatory. I was just legitimately curious as to why you didn't see something like Jar Time as actual premium content, despite it being labeled and provided as such.

I'm sorry to know you feel it is on a decline. It doesn't have quite the same feel to it as it did in the Whiskey Media offices, but I'm still very much enjoying what they produce, the coverage they give, and the silliness that takes place on a regular basis.

I'd disagree that they would. Jeff is very forward thinking in how he manages stuff, and I don't think he'd stoop to changing everything just to get on the nerves of a handful of people. Ryan might mess with someone on twitter, but I don't think it would ever really bleed over into the work week in a significant manner.

Yeah because the front of house staff totally have access to the web server, the dev team are busy trying to finish the new redesign which probably wont even have that page anymore when you come to sign up, its pointless changing it because of some idiots on a web forum when its probably going to be gone in a few weeks anyway.

No, we're good. And I'm with you; I'm certainly not going to boycott the site any time soon. I'll be there as early as possible for the DmC Quick Look, whenever that goes up. I'd just rather speak up about the problems that I see now, rather than stay mum on "good faith."

Honestly, why should we care? GB is a company like any other. Do your customers give a shit if you are busy at your workplace? That's how life works.

I'm not arguing over $5 a month here. I just think maybe we should expect a little more.

Truth. Maybe they could also realize this happens every year, and plan for it? Make some random content on their slower weeks and keep it in their pocket for the busy times?

Personally I don't care about more premium content, I just want more content period. For the amount of people and resources they have, the amount of content seems low.
