Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

I kind of felt Brad was a bit overly down on it. It actually seems pretty fun in a dumb B-movie sort of way. I could see it gettnng old eventually (like the repeating dialogue) but that first hour seemed entertaining enough.
They were really accurate with it pretty much staying a continuous string of combat arenas, though. There's not much in the way of enemy variety, but there are a few more they never saw.

There's some cool stuff later on like using your body as a torch to light up dark rooms, fighting in a museum with TONS of destructible valuables, tossing your head like a basketball, and dumb stuff like exploring Arcadia's apartment and seeing Bryce interact with things that were really amusing. It's a pretty repetitive experience, and it's not something everyone will like, but I had a good time with it. Once you kind of get used to the way it operates, it gets much more pleasant. At least, it did for me.

Brad's need to collect the experience bits was hilarious, because I was the exact same way playing.

Yeah, I'd love more Spelunky videos. I've done 2 non-shortcut runs in Spelunky and I've tried to make it to hell with little luck. Still a ton of fun to play.

Alright, I'm not gonna go as far as reading a guide, but I know there's some weird variability about how you go about finishing the game (PROVIDED I MAKE IT THAT FAR). Anything I should know about that stuff?

Are all Giant Bomb videos (the one the behind the scenes are from) the "day x recap" things?

If what you're asking is if the Behind the Scenes videos are all from the GOTY video shoots, then I believe the answer is yes. And, yes, those videos are the Days 1-5 recaps.

But I'm not honestly sure if that was your question?

I am greatly in favour of more Spelunky videos. I think it could be

I mean, for the no-shortcuts achievement, you just need to finish the 4 main areas in the game.

To get to the secret 5th area, there's a very specific sequence of events you have to adhere to. I don't think it's something you would just stumble upon yourself by doing couple runs, only after investing more time and more runs would you even see some of these interactions, really.

I think getting to the 5th area is something to do as an extra challenge after you've beaten the game properly at least once. Nets you a couple extra achievements, though.

In case you want to get at least a starting hint, here's what you have to do in the respective areas to get to the 5th area and the final final boss.

Mines:
Get the Udjat Eye from the chest.

Jungle:
Use the Udjat Eye to find the black market and buy the Ankh for 50k gold (or steal it).
Ice Caves:
Kill yourself on the level with the giant Moai statue to get the Hedjet (one of the components needed to open a special door in 4-2).

Temple:
4-1: Kill Anubis to get his scepter (second component to open the special door in 4-2).
4-2: With the Hedjet in your inventory and the scepter equipped, open the golden door to the city of gold.
4-3: Get the Necronomicon and escape or kill Anubis II.
4-4: Use the Necronomicon to pinpoint the door to Hell (right above the lava) and drop on Olmec's head while he's submerging in the lava to enter the door.

I actually want to listen to the dubstep unironically though.

Or at least want to see what euro radio dubstep sounds like. :P
