Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

It is inaccurate and it should be changed but I guess I assume that there was no malicious intent and I believe that Brad's explanation is the truth. If I thought they were intentionally trying to mislead members I would agree with the outrage, I just don't think that is the case.

Its cheaper oop norf. Adult 3d VIP at Vue seats are only £10 :D
Yeah there are a couple Vue's and Odeon's that do cheaper tickets but I usually avoid them because 9 times out of 10 the film is ruined by kids/talkers/phones. The one saving grace of higher priced tickets is the people there are pretty serious about just watching the film.

Cannot wait until we have day and date PPV.

Brad, are you going to jump into Ni No Kuni after DmC? I figure you're the only guy on the crew who would have an interest in playing that.

I really, really want to play it. Not sure if I'll be able to do the whole thing because JRPGs, but I love Ghibli and have to at least play enough of it to get a sense of it.

This thread should be the best and yet it is the worst. The premium content is nice but I just like supporting these guys in general. What other show hasn't missed a week?

I pretty much figured there would be not as much premium content the last week or so, since these are the proverbial doldrums, and they really busted their ass with the great GOTY content. I'm still impressed at how much effort they put into that.

It's very easy: Company not delivering on what they were promising = bad. As a consumer, I find false advertisement to be a big deal.

God, I've never seen people whinge over $5 a month so much. Why don't you go play on Xbox live for a while, I hear they just released some new ads for gold members.

I just received a month of free Xbox Live Gold because Microsoft didn't deliver on their promise of working Cloud Storage. See: Companies are responsible to provide what they sell.

To be fair, it doesn't say exclusive new content every day. Maybe they're just referring to the access to the premium content they've already produced that you have daily.

And they did give an extra week or two of premium access when their site was down for a week like a responsible business.

So where's my free month for having half the features of US Xbox live? Why are more ads than ever? Why am I paying to play a game online? What the fuck am I even paying for? At least GB's $5 a months gives quality stuff.

Exactly. netBuff needs more allies or he'll get consumed by the Brad lovers.

#Team¬Brad? But I like Brad!

You are paying for amazing Peer-to-peer multiplayer, you just know such a fantastic setup has to cost Microsoft a boatload of money!

I am not sure I agree with how heated it got on either side, but yes, having a claim of daily premium content as excusing it as a hold-over is being a little disrespectful of your audience. It cuts both ways and it's not fair to hold a writer solely responsible for it nor put the onus on customers for just knowing that no one has been able to delete a word for three hundred and sixty five days.

But I'm a year subscriber so I guess I don't really have a dog in this fight.

...Has someone created ringtones of the crew's voice with catch-phrases. I need it for something.

Surely someone must have done it by now.

I fucking knew when brad would reply he would only respond to the "you guys dont do anything all day" comments and completely ignore the stuff about lying about daily premium content.

Hopefully Jeff is reading this thread or something and he gets someone to spend 10 minutes on monday morning changing a line of text. Brad is always so insecure when people bring up issues with GB's work ethic that in this case its taking attention away from another important yet easily fixable issue.

?

To those asking the perfectly reasonable question about the daily content line, it's a holdover from the days when four sites were providing premium material, not one. I don't know why it's still there, but the redesign will probably wipe it away anyway.

Still they havent done daily premium content.... ever? I dont know why people never brought it up sooner.

When Whiskey was Whiskey.

Keeping the Brad talk alive, he should go for the SMILE achievement in Geometry Wars 2 in a Breaking Brad. It'd probably be better to watch than the Geo Wars 1 run because there's no ramp up for it.

Also, a series of Breaking Brads leading up to the Meat Boy Golden God achievement.

Son I S-ranked that game like four years ago!

I'll probably take another stab at Spelunky before anything else, that was too much fun.

Guess that's what happens when I listen to random older Bombcasts. Must've been an old one where you were talking about getting that achievement.

I've somehow managed not to watch any of the Spelunky content you guys have put out.

Have you beaten Spelunky yet (shortcuts, etc). Haven't been keeping up and i' can't be bothered to looking for some 360 profile (also kinda creepy tbh).

Someone at GB needs to try an actual City Of Gold run in Spelunky. I cringed when someone on a bombcast mentioned "I think I saw the city of gold once in the first area" (I'm assuming they saw a gold pit/snake pit).

One does not accidentally see The City Of Gold!

I'm down for more spelunky videos, even though attempting a no-shortcuts run without having beaten the game the normal way first is basically suicide. I suppose that's sort of the point actually.

See this is what I really don't get from an employer point of view.

As a manager of a business one of the most important factors is staff productivity. While there is no way of knowing what is going behind the scenes, from an outsider's view point I just can't see why content is so low compared to other comparable websites.

I guess the guys are just lucky that I'm not their line manager as I would be asking questions such as, Why does the news guy not actually you know....report the daily news stories of the video game world to get me clicks?

For example today Eurogamer published 15 news articles for their members to comment on, Giant Bomb published zero. The majority on EG which written by one guy. Eurogamer isn't perfect but it operates on a fairly small daily editorial team and they provide content for their community to discuss daily. And their reviews are timely.

As much as I enjoyed the GOTY videos I would much rather that energy is used throughout the year to engage me, their reader, and provide a steady stream of content for me and others to enjoy.

This is why I like Giant Bomb. They don't shape their content to match what a business executive wants in terms of editorial.

I think of how magazines operate in ways that sell news stand copies by plastering World of Warcraft on the cover. A head of a magazine says, "People buy Mike Tyson covers, no one cares about other boxers. Every cover should be about Mike Tyson. Every feature should be about Mike Tyson." "What's going to sell" is a shitty way to run a magazine that you actually care about. In the best words, it would be a "ethically compromised" way to run an outlet.

I like that Giant Bomb writes about things that they care about. Prepackaged stories written to satisfy shareholders is the worst way to run an outlet for people that actually want to know what "experts" are interested in.

I'd like to see him do something with Bayonetta when we wait for MGRR. It's a pretty straightforward S-rank, certainly compared to other action games like DMC 4 or Ninja Gaiden 2.
