That works both ways though. I've discovered a lot of games through Giant Bomb video.
I miss a lot of games simply due to the nature of not having enough time, money, or interest in everything that is out there, as well. I've spent enough time with the things that I like to have a reasonably good idea of what is and isn't going to appeal to me in a significant capacity. Of course, that is not without exceptions, but in the case of Castlevania and Assassin's Creed, I feel quite confident in my decisions to avoid them for my personal library. You'll miss out on a lot of good games if you just go by how they look on Giant Bomb videos.
QLs are entertainment in themselves, anything more than that is a bonus
Fortunately, I tend to consume media surrounding games from more than a singular location or instance of video. : PUsing quicklooks to decide what series to care about is something people do but I am not sure it is something one should be proud of.
But I'll point out that doing so as a blanket standard means you can be pretty sure Shadow of the Colossus is broken and you just fall off Colossi randomly, among other things.
There is a lot to be said for trying something yourself, even if you didn't like the previous iterations. Things change, game design changes, I hated Assassin's Creed 1 and didn't care for AC3 but man did I love AC2.
Despite the Quick Look's not being the most positive in the world, I've picked up games like Wet and Splatterhouse based purely on the fact I thought I'd enjoy the games after seeing the Quick Look.
Jesus christ that Unprofessional Friday was their best video in a long ass time.
"And so I said yaaaaaaaaaaaaay."
So, a year late, I played through Saints Row The Third this weekend. And, to my astonishment, I really enjoyed it. The main voice actress, Laura Bailey, is really good. There was a toughness to her, and she could say motherfucker with ease, and sound natural with every ridiculous line delivered. The writing, for the most part, was clever. The musical choices, from "Power" to the ending climax of "I Need a Hero", which, is it supposed to be an allusion to Short Circuit 2's finale, are great; the part early in the game where they sing that song in the car is great. I'm shocked, shocked that this game had such care to it. And, while I don't hold much attachment to some of the stuff they are lampooning in the game, such as wrestling, I can appreciate its care. I cannot believe this game is as fun as it was. I wonder if the sexism of the game would have affected me differently if I played as a male character, but as a female, it all seemed so subversive (I didn't dress my character in the nude or as a tart). As someone who doesn't like random wackiness (think the opposite of Patrick's "What is going on?!" exuberant exclamations) and gets quickly turned off by gross sexism/violence/misogyny, I find it hard to reconcile my pleasure playing through this game. There is something... heartwarming... about it all. I don't get it.
Between playing through this and replaying Bully in the last week, I've had some good open world fun.
GB Quick Looks tend to be misleading most of the time since they don't spend enough time with some of the games so there is too much guess work involved on their part. You'll miss out on a lot of good games if you just go by how they look on Giant Bomb videos.
It was a terrible showing, Vinny already apologized on Twitter.
The part they showed is actually very trivial and short - if you know the controls and what moves are available to you. Vinny forgot how to do the dash, which was introduced one or two levels earlier in the game, and he forgot how to grapple things. Unfortunately, the chat told him to hold RT which made everything even worse because you're only supposed to tap RT. That's the reason he let go of the statue every single time. Yeah, it was pretty infuriating to watch.
Hopefully he's prepared if he decides to play it again next week. I'd suggest to start over. Last time he played it was almost two years ago, he should at least play by himself for a while before doing another live show with the game. For sure he's forgotten a lot and he's bound to get stuck again if he decides to continue where he left of. On top, the combat looks unnecessarily boring and takes way too long when you're not utilizing all these awesome moves that you bought (use the "chainsaw", Vinny! And less areal attacks... those do hardly any damage and are only there for crowd control).
The next sub-chapter is very puzzle/coop-with-Zobek-heavy. And you need to find handles for some contraption. I predict frustration.
I feel like people say this every few weeks.
@patrickklepek: Oh my god...K's ending. Mind explosion. Bwaaaaaarrrrrrrrpppp.
TNT has the same problem as Happy Hour did: It works when you have the right content for it, but it's impossible to have the right content week in and week out. So a lot of weeks it feels very forced.
It might still have value as a monthly feature or something, though.
They should just stick to playing local co-op games for TNT. Or replace it entirely with Random PC Game, Load Our Last Save or Breaking Brad.
is bwaaaarp the inception horn or a really deep, slightly extended burp/fart?Ha scoops it only gets crazier

They should make it dueling co-op. Two teams, see how can get furthest in an hour and half. Losers have to play RE6 co-op on next TNT.I think the idea for Too Human co-op this week sounds super awesome.

Like The Wizard. That's a great idea. Why stop at Too Human though? They should make it dueling co-op. Two teams, see how can get furthest in an hour and half. Losers have to play RE6 co-op on next TNT.
That's a cool idea, but once Jeff learns that racing is the latest Youtube/Twitch fad to cross-promote various gamer channels, he'll put his foot down and won't allow it.They should make it dueling co-op. Good lord, I feel like Drew's sandwich would just kill me instantly. But I want it.
Glad you enjoyed it, it is awesome. Don't bother with the DLC though. It's bad, like retroactively may make you like the game less kind of bad.So, a year late, I played through Saints Row The Third this weekend. And, to my astonishment, I really enjoyed it.
